    Deep Boring Holes

Cheaper option than a boring mill might be hanging it off the side of the table on a radial drill and using drills and a reamer, if the size is important. If u have 2 bores on one part that need to be in line w each other, then u could bore one, make a pin that size, bolt the pin to ur table and...

Hi everybody, the company I work for recently purchased a Springfield 42CNC vertical grinder, it's basically a bullard w a grinding spindle for the turret. I'm wondering if anyone has ran one of these or has any idea how to adjust the sliding head for taper? There are 4 nuts that loosen to angle...

    OT security cameras

I got mine at harbor freight for 65 dollars each, just over a year ago. The ones I got plug into a wall outlet but use wifi for the picture and sound, they have night vision and are waterproof, I have 2 outdoors and 2 indoors and never had any problems. They're easy to set up anymore, no matter...

OT: Building collapse in Iowa, causes?

I live near there, about 15 min from it. It floods like crazy every year and the buildings are all really old. Another one collapsed years ago. This one was being repaired but there are videos online of a tenant who moved out a couple weeks before the collapse and she had cracks in a wall coming...

WWYD? Employment at job shop or firearms manufacturer?

Haha dude I should have listened to the majority, but the brand new clean shop and new machines and guns, all just seemed too cool to pass up. I wouldn't tell anyone not to try it, government work and small parts with tight tolerances is a good thing to learn and appreciate, but nothing beats...

WWYD? Employment at job shop or firearms manufacturer?

We get a lot of stuff from local grain processors, they range in size from 5 feet long to around 15 feet. A few of them are huge. It's a really great place to work, they weren't hiring but I walked in with my resume and got an offer because no one knows manual stuff anymore and that's what I...

Tool post grinding in a vertical lathe

Thanks for the reply, I'm grinding chrome for a bearing to sit in, it's about 4 inches long and 8.5 inches in diameter. If I try to take .0005 per side (.001 total) thats when I get taper. If I cut .0002 per side, then I can get the taper out and then continue to take light passes like that...
