    filtering air for plasma?

It's probably the least important piece of the system that I've suggested above but I have seen several installations with a line filter just after the cooler. It's the final filter prior to the supply manifold for the air plant. I'm a belt and suspenders guy but as you point out, it's icing...

    filtering air for plasma?

old thread but thought I'd post up: (2) things you should do. First you should install an aftercooler & water remover between the pump and tank check-valve on your vertical unit. The copper pipe coming out of the second set of cylinders can run over 300F. This causes a lot of water in your...

Baldor / Boehm Co. 4640 Motor Plate

Well - very little interest (actually zero) which isn't surprising. Tags came out great, so if anyone is reconsidering let me know!

    Bridgeport 6F power feed

Brush holders appeared to be copper so may not be a framco?

Baldor / Boehm Co. 4640 Motor Plate

Super fringe question but is anyone interested in reproduction name plates for the R. A. Boehm Co. motor that shipped with the Bridgeport 6 series power feed? I have the artwork ready and thought I'd ask prior to ordering. I'm like to do the restorations and don't mind spending time on this...

Extra Parts from my 1952 9A Available

Okay, final posting on this thread. Here is what is left. If there are no takers I shall shove in a box and stick on a shelf for no reason.

South Bend Furnas RSB4 reversing controller

You can always purchase a 6 terminal furnas switch (i assume you know this and are going for the old fashioned look.) The McMaster-Carr part no. is #7065K21. Not inexpensive but much better than a new motor ($59.77). For my 9A I used a new switch with the old handle.

South Bend Furnas RSB4 reversing controller

Okay, 3 more questions: 1. Any chance you can find a more detailed wiring diagram for this motor? It doesn't look like they have surfaced enough wires for you to connect up for forward & reverse. A modern reversible AC capacitor start / run motor surfaces (6) wires in total plus a ground...

South Bend Furnas RSB4 reversing controller

Can you post an image of the face plate on your motor?

    1952 Southbend 9A Restoration

Your lathe sounds fantastic including the story of you getting it! I'm in my late 40s and would have loved to have such a beautiful machine in my 20s. It really is my pleasure to give back to the community in anyway that I can. I am really proud of the restoration I did and I couldn't have...

WTB South Bend 9" Steady Rest

I've got a steady rest and a follow rest for a 9A. I will sell either for $150 or both for $275. Let me know. I know this price is below market, particularly as these are in great condition - I am feeling helpful; please no one who wants to resell at the market price.

Extra Parts from my 1952 9A Available

Hi All, I recently completed my restoration of my 1952 Southbend 9A. You can find that thread on the forum if you are interested. I received a lot of parts with the original purchase, and found some other ones over the year I was searching. I was much less educated on the machines back then...

    1952 Southbend 9A Restoration

Thanks! I am glad it is over :) Sounds like you have a gem in that 9B. The micrometer stops are not cheap. There were a few on eBay and I ended up getting mine for like $130. Pretty steep. Depending on condition you can find them for $75 - $200 (crazy!!)

    1952 Southbend 9A Restoration

Micrometer Stop You guys are surely correct. I haven't experienced the issue yet as I've been using a chuck, but once I get the lever installed I will mostly be using collets for minimized runout (I think?). I picked up a micrometer stop off of eBay and I'm going to do a quick restoration on...

    South Bend 9" Model A

Plenty of taper attachments available for the SB 9. Unfortunately they have become very dear. There are at least 4 - 5 for sale at anytime on eBay from $500 - $800. Make sure you get all the parts; this is a set that rarely gets parted out.

    South Bend 9" Model A

they are giving you the short-hand. If you set your top-slide (compound) to 1.438d you can make the cuts using just the compound. Keep taking light cuts at this angle, using the top-slide for feed and the cross-slide for depth. Eventually you will reach your OD with the correct taper on the...
