    CHIPMASTER belt-drive conversion

Oh, I do have a propeller-driven aircraft. In fact I just went solo (alone) four days ago. It's an MTO Sport Gyrocopter, and it makes a great sound.... Cheers Erik

A Deckel part and why I think Ebay has become largely irrelevant (Germany)

I have a link in my browser for eBay, but it's a very long time since I've bought something. And even much longer since I sold anything. After they raised the sellers fee to 10% with PayPal on top, I left it. I have a great, like new, FP3 table 2229 and I'll need to sell it on leinanzeigen...

    CHIPMASTER belt-drive conversion

Yes, the motor runs at 1400-ish RPM all the time - it says so in the Allspeeds manual (only speed allowed). So the torque gets larger the slower the output runs. With a good VFD the torque stays the same at all RPM. So the variator gives a much larger range of speeds (35-300 and 350-3000 - you...

    Wanted ! ! !

There is someone in the Deckel FP1Facebook group who has an FP1 head without gears and spindle. Usually it has no value, so you might get a good deal. Cheers Erik

    FP 1 Dismantle

Hi Poyo. I don't have a manual for you, but I believe a 1941 badly scanned manual is on Wrench's DVD. I have scanned another document of a friend's 1938 FP1. It shows the versatility of the FP1: Dropbox - OldFP1.pdf - Simplify your life Cheers Erik

How to diagnose rapid traverse on an FP2?

So, what happened? Did you discover it's really ok or....?

    CHIPMASTER belt-drive conversion

I also fell into the trap laid by Tony of lathes.co.uk (he hates the variator). Buying two 3 HP VFD's for my Chippie and my Deckel FP2. The variator made a knocking sound, so I planned on making a two-step layshaft so I could keep the great RPM range with the VFD. But I was very lucky to be...

How to diagnose rapid traverse on an FP2?

Like Ross wrote... The rapid feed is not an on-off thing. Pulling the lever a little make the feed stop. Pulling more give some feed. And firm pulling give full rapid speed. At least on my FP2 - it works very nicely. Cheers Erik

    Hermle Universal index table

Hi Thanos. It was a 3- or 4-jaw scroll chuck (both can be had)with two-part jaws. Those can be adjusted individually. Geared scroll chucks and individual jaw adjustment - Rohm clamping devices : drill chucks, lathe chucks, HSK tools It just gives the owner more possibilities. I had it in...

    Deckel FP electrical connection help

Well, Peter - it looks like they solved that problem with Brexit. ;-) I read in the UK that three phase supply is not standard unless you live near industrial areas. And therefore expensive to get if you live in an older residential area. I do hope that situation has become better. In Denmark...

    Deckel FP electrical connection help

I also wonder what's wrong with the world..... ;-) In the UK it seems like they often have 240V single phase - and the fuse is in the plug (which protects the device - but not the wiring in the house). So they sell 1-3 phase VFD's in the UK. Those are rarely seen here, unfortunately.

    Hermle Universal index table

Well, we might call your chuck "a European thing", as Pratt-burnerd made those for many years. And TOS. Even the Chinese. I would call the 3- and 4-jaw chucks having both scroll and individual adjustable jaws for "universal chucks" I had one of those (Röhm) and I stupidly sold it. Cheers Erik

    FP2/12mm T-nut dimensions

Hmm - there are BT40, CAT40, DIN2080 and SK40S20x2..... And I have never seen a tool changer with a threaded draw bar (your comment: There's no wasted...). If you want max. headroom, just go with direct collets. By having the tool inside the spindle itself. I would think you could get Inch...

    Deckel Scams in Germany

Yes, I remember you just missed a late FP1 with all the good stuff that went for 3000€ on eBay.... I have friends in other places in Denmark - they go to auctions and sometimes get lucky. But I am stuck here out in the Baltic Sea. Nah well, I wouldn't have the space anyway. And I'll have a...

    Deckel Scams in Germany

After being scammed about two PC graphics cards in Denmark - with a seller I had a nice, long phone conversation with - I have become wary. Last year, right before Corona closed the borders, I drove from Bornholm in the Baltic Sea to a small town in Germany close to the French border. To pay...
