Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Got another module and another pump. The module now sends the proper voltage to the valve, but still the trunk won't open. Still weird that I can't scan the new module either. Maybe I can hire someone to take apart the pump and repair it...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Yes I owe you guys so much for helping me with this retrofit, definitely taking me x100 times longer than I anticipated. Still weird that I can't even scan the module with diagnostic software, it's not showing up. Yet it kinds works, so weird that I can't scan it.

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Alright everything makes sense now. He must've send me the wrong module and wiring. Wiring was pre wired for 2 pins on the tilt sensor. It's because it was for sure from E39 touring, which uses only 2 wires. I couldn't figure out forever why it had only 2 wires, being oem wiring harness, and...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

I asked my friend and confirmed he is getting 12v at the connector by the valve. So I shorted both connectors for the pump with a wire, that way the valve connector also gets 12 volts. I saw a NOTICEBLE improvement. The trunk would close on its on and it would pull hard. Unfortunately it's...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

I'll double check again, I don't remember anymore:) Too many tests. I had some test their system for me, and they're getting 12 volt on the valve connector. By disconnecting that connector, their trunk acts just like mine. Also, interestingly, I found someone having the exact same problem...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Are you talking about the rear lid control module? Pins 9 and 14 go directly to pins 1 and 2 on the tilt switch sensor. Basically I already measured voltage on pins 1 and 2 so it would be the same. If I understood your question correctly.

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

To recap, connect the multimeter’s black probe to a ground connection, the hall sensor’s black terminal, and the red probe to its supply terminal directly or via a jumper wire. Check the reading on the multimeter. It should be around 12-13 volts. The reading shown in the example below is 11.73...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

As far as testing the valve, no I have not tried it yet, because I don't know what voltage it needs to operate at. Maybe it needs 1 volt, and I don't want to burn it by giving it 12 volts 😀

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

I regret not taking a picture when I took the sensor apart. It's very small, like 1 inch by 1 inch or so. Inside of it, there's a little metal tablet. It moves along a channel. I'm gonna find a picture online and post it. There's no switches per say. I have no idea how this sensor translates the...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Right on, so pin 3 is ground on the tilt switch and I tested continuity between pin 1 and 3 and 2 and 3. Continuity is infinite, no matter how I move, tilt or shake the tilt sensor, and irrespective of whether the pump is running or not. I also tried testing voltage on pins 2 and 3, and I think...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Yes you're right, those switches probably activate based on where the metal tablet is inside the sensor. It's a very small sensor. Some pictures for reference. But how to tell if it actually activates? And to answer your question from post #55, I'm not getting 12v on that connector when I press...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

On E39 this hydraulic trunk was only an option on "touring/wagon" vehicles. Mine is a sedan. So I retrofitted the system from E38, and the document I posted is from E38. I did not read 2 title switches, should only be one tilt switch. I didn't see your reply at first as we replied at the same...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Yes there's a little metal "tablet" inside the sensor, that slides freely if you shake the sensor or move it. I opened it to make sure it wasn't stuck. Based on my previous measurements, it seems to have all that present. 1 wire is ground, and the other 2 have voltage. I think I can test it...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Found the description of the system finally:)

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

We're talking continuity between pins 2, 3 vs ground? I wouldn't expect there to be continuity. I also have a friend with the same car, so can ask to replicate the tests. But not sure why you think there would be continuity between pins 2 and 3 with ground?

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Disconnected the battery. The ground is pin 3. Pin 1 and pin 2 on the tilt sensor show infinite with the ground connector on the car.

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

With the sensor hanging and connector plugged in, connected voltmeter to pin 1. Voltage around 180 mV, jumping up and down slightly. Pressed open trunk button, voltage jumped to about 0.580 volts while pump pulsated, and stayed there for another minute or so. Then connected probe to pin 2...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

I think there's only one way to mount this switch. That's how I see others mounted it as well, who did the retrofit. Its mounted with the connector facing toward the front of the vehicle. I doubt it should be mounted upside down or with connector toward the back of the vehicle, away from the...

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

That's one thing I don't know how to do, checking signals. Do I need oscilloscope or smth like that?

Any idea where i can order to make a part?

Yes i have the tilt switch. I had opened and examined it, it has a small metal tab inside that slides around, did not see any issues there.
