Where would you buy a welding helmet today?

I have and use a YESWELDER helmet. Of course it's from China. Replaced a 15+ year old Jackson that the LCD had failed. Until you try a modern large viewing area color lens you don't know what you are missing? I could not believe the clarity of this helmet. Great design with all the controls...

How much do you value your employees educating themselves on their job and above and beyond.

Correct. I am a ME and a PE registered in Oklahoma. The PE has provided no benefit to me other than personal satisfaction. Engineers are just not thought of as a profession. We are just hired hands unlike other professions such as doctors, lawyers or even CPA's. These do have tough and useful...

Shop made Evapo-rust tank / container.

I have wanted to try Molasses but never can find it in large quantities or very cheap. Everyone says go to a feed store but not cheap there either? Any other supply suggestions? . . .

Shop made Evapo-rust tank / container.

One thing I have found is to make sure and keep it sealed up as much as possible. It degrades when exposed to air. Yes it's always in a plastic container when I buy it. . . .

Slightly OT: Has the specification for wire gauge changed?

Thanks for posting that as when I use my wire strippers and see the modern wire very often does not seem to match standard wire gauges? Either it cuts the wire or only takes off part of the insulation. Lot's of modern wire is odd sized. Regardless of what it marked with on the jacket. . . .

    O/T: New use for swarf

It's even worse than that! The retards are using soy based wire insulation in cars! It saves the environment and of course does not last as long so you can more cars! What a wonderful to sell more cars that won't last. Of course buying more cars MUST be good for the enviromrent right? It more...

    Oil Filter for #3

With 150 psi any automotive metal canister filter will be blown off the base quickly! Have seen this multiple times when starting automotive engines in 20F or lower and the pressure relief valve sticks. Makes quite a mess! Make sure you get one pressure rated for at least 150psi. . . .

Entry-level plasma cutters for up to 1/2" thick mild & stainless flat & tube?

Up to you but I have found the 120V Plasma cutters to be like the 120V welders. They work but if at all possible get a 240V model. It's just has more balls when you need it! I run a Lotos 50A. Pilot Arc plasma cutter. It's only a cheap chinese machine but no problems and it just flat works...

OT Electric carving knife use method

Wonderful for cleaning fish also. Much faster than a fixed blade knife. . . .

    Cheap Lotos plasma cutter

Yes I have the LTP5000 and recommend that over the LT5000 because of the non-touch pilot arc. Way easy for a home guy to use since it will start the arc on rusted or painted non-conductive surfaces. Not having to scratch start the arc is a great feature for amateurs. Seems as a home guy that's...

Auto Darkening Welding Helmet - USA Made

Replaced my 15 year old Jackson with a new Yesweld helmet. The old Jackson LCD just kind of melted away and would not change states even with new batteries. The Yesweld helmet is WAY above the old Jackson EQC! Love the full color lens when it's not darkened. Nice large viewing area too. Very...

    Acetylene tank

Agree with checking with your gas supplier. My current one does not even look at your tank as it's a swap situation and I own my own bottles. Other places I have been they won't even touch the bottle unless you have the original bill of sale or receipt. I like the swap setup as I know everything...

floor jack (or other type) recommendation

Another HF recommendation. Until you try one you won't believe how good they are! Junked my 25+ year old Craftsman one but I did get good use out of it. The new Al. jacks are just made so much better. For well under $200 it's a quality piece. Look for sales too as they come around fairly...
