    Rockwell 28-365 blade guide material

Well, the guides are 1/8” thick and their are four sets (left, right, top and bottom) so for a 3/4-1” blade I’d need maybe 20? Would bronze wear too fast even at 50-100 FPS? I’ve never seen bronze guides so perhaps that answers my question.

    Rockwell 28-365 blade guide material

I recently picked up this vertical 20" Rockwell and while it's not a DoAll it's perfectly sized for my shop, in good shape and complete but obviously the guide set up isn't correct at the moment. I considered a Carter conversion but after researching the topic here I think I'd rather keep the...

WTB: Doall 16 variant in PNW

Have others been contacted by people going to a fair amount of trouble to dredge up old machinery ads to try to scam them? It seems like a pretty difficult sort of thing to pull off.

WTB: Doall 16 variant in PNW

Looking for an older and hopefully affordable Doall 16. I'd consider a project if only because I'm a glutton but I'd prefer something in original condition. Feel free to get in touch via PM or via email: [email protected] Thanks, Gregor

    Teco N3 STEP2 Error

There's some real irony when you have a problem, search the internet for an answer and find one only to realize that it was you circa 2011 who is giving you the answer. I just had to replace the Teco N3 drive I'd installed years ago. The lathe moved cross country to a new shop and had had a...

Difference between Clausing and Colchester and Clausing Colchester

Wow, I was looking up info on for taper attachments and my thread comes up on the first page. I forgot about this and I suppose my subscription ran out so I'll have to resubscribe. I'll also try to take some more photos since the links are dead from my original posts (thanks Apple!) but I've...

WTB: combination disc/belt sander near NYC

Like the title says. Prefer single phase. Good quality that runs straight.

Difference between Clausing and Colchester and Clausing Colchester

I've finally located all the change gears for metric threading and I've made a flip up threading tool so I can easily reverse the lathe with the halfnut engaged but I'd love to locate a metric threading plate so I have the info right there on my lathe. Does anyone have a plate? If not does...

Hi Peter, A while back you'd posted up a photo of the metric change plate on your Bantam in a thread I put up about a lathe I was looking at. Well, I went back to that thread and the photo seems to be gone. I finally got all the metric change gears I need and I've called everyone in GB to see...

Motor Advice for saving a cold saw

Since the help here was instrumental I wanted to post up some photos of the saw now that I finished it. It had about 10 coats of paint many of which were painted over swarf. I stripped it to metal and gave it a fresh coat of machine gray. I built a new lock arm and rebuilt the vise. Also...

    Machine Cleaning

That was very helpful and I'll be incorporating some of those ideas on the cold saw I'm rebuilding. Thanks Forrest! Gregor

    Teco N3 STEP2 Error

I think your comment is what tipped me in that direction but elsewhere I'd heard that it was the control wires, not the remote display cable, that were susceptible and since I was using a factory cable I just looked toward the wiring that I put in. Now I just need to do more research here to...

    Teco N3 STEP2 Error

I finally solved the problem I was having with the random shut offs. It wasn't related to the control wires but with the remote display I was using. I am using a Teco 2m extension and in my attempt to be neat I zip tied the cable with the DRO power cord, DRO scale cables and the work light. When...

Hi Jeep, Do you have a photo? I got an offer for a Buck for $275 with the D1-3 back that I would need but it's hard to tell about the condition. You can PM if you'd like. Thanks! G

    Teco N3 STEP2 Error

I just wired up my Colchester today with a Teco N3 and am getting the same error with the machine randomly shutting off with the same STP2 error. I ran the motor and the control wires for the apron switch together in the same conduit for about 3-5" (utilizing the existing wire runs) and am now...

    WTB: Bison/Buck 6" 3-jaw

I'd like one with reversible jaws and ajust tru would be nice as well. It's for a lathe with a D1-3 mount but I could always buy an adapter and machine it to fit a plain back. Thanks, Gregor

OT- Compact stereo with sound quality as good as Bose Wave ?

Actually they're less like machine tools and more like breasts - bigger and bigger is not always better if they're not made well. In fact giant flabby pendulous speakers are downright scary to listen to. Many great systems are built around small perky speakers like Proac tablets or Linn Kans...

OT- Compact stereo with sound quality as good as Bose Wave ?

I used to do high end hifi and in audio much like photo their tends to be a consistent overachiever that pros gravitate to at home. In audio everyone had pro tape decks with these little speakerS above the solder bench. Amazon.com: Advent AV570 70-Watt 2-Way Powered Multimedia Speaker System...

    WTB: Acu-rite Senc 50 scale

It's a bit of a long shot but I'm looking for a Senc 50, the slim scale, for a lathe cross slide (6-8"). I have a couple of Acu-rite Senc 150 scales to trade if that was of interest. Thanks, Gregor
