OT: what can i use to hollow out a tree stump?

stump grinder. Some come as attachments to tractors, some are stand-alone machines. You should be able to rent the machine. They can dig out a stump very quickly.

    Learning NX Just Starting

There is an excellent book for NX CAD "Siemens NX 2021 for Designers" by Sam Tickoo. I found that this book gave me everything I needed for the CAD side of things. For the CAM, I am not aware of any good books. I chose to take a community college course which pretty much got me up to speed...

    precision boring head manuals

I'm thinking I might just manufacture a custom drawbar for the head, that matches my exact setup on the FPS 300M. The FPS 300M has a female hex on the top of the drawbar that a standard hex tool fits into.

    precision boring head manuals

Actually, I aquired the boring head from Singer. They claimed it has M16 male thread suitable for DIN 69871, but it didn't seem long enough on my first pass attempt with holder. Also the drawbar has some kind of wierd torx like opening on top, is there a Deckel specific handle for this head?

    precision boring head manuals

I'm currently struggling with getting the precision boring head drawbar setup to support my DIN 69871 tooling. My FPS 300M is configured with DIN 69871 and all my tooling is using this standard. I'm also having to aquire the drive ring adapter to match. The drawbar currently installed on the...

Section 179 Purchase and Placed in Service in Different Years

Generally you take the section 179 deduction in year the equipment is purchased, not affected if equipment just sits or not.

    Precision Boring Head

Also, the 2037 table is quite specialized, most operations requiring a rotation table in todays age would be done on a CNC machine.

    Precision Boring Head

Ross, other than the fine boring head, any other heads you ever felt the need to "raise up" ?

    Precision Boring Head

Which head exactly do you believe this riser is intended to lift up? The translation of the note from german translates: "Base 2124 00200 (only for FP1 with push head)". In looking at various Deckel brochures and manuals, the only heads I've seen raised up are the fine boring head and the fine...

    Precision Boring Head

Whatever, its not really a contest. I'll requote and say that I have all the options that I find useful for the FP1. There are a couple accessories that were useful back in the day prior to EDM whereby Deckel used an optical setup to make dies, and also an optical based rotation table that I do...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

Ross, as usual your advise is invaluable. I do in fact own the stubb arbors you mention. I also have a huge selection of cutters that can be hung off the long arbors/overarm so I want to keep that option open when it makes sense. Very likely that I'll cut off the end of the high speed body...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

Got it all figured out today. The difficulty moving the vertical head backward was (my) user error, there is a 3rd bolt that needed loosening, after that it slides really easily. There is indeed a stop preventing the head from coming off from the front. There is also a removable stop on the...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

I do have a project on my TODO list to adapt a Rusnok Head to my FP1 as a supplement to the Deckel high speed head...that will involve bastardizing a spare high speed head I have in storage for the Rusnok, could combine that effort with fixing up the here mentioned high speed adaptation...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

Ross, I'm definately coming around to your thinking. If I fix the length issue of the high speed head, then I'm all set as all my other heads will fit without removal of the vertical head.

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

The high speed head I have was supplied by FPS but is a legacy accessory (e.g. not manufactured by them), it is definately too long to fit without removing the vertical head. I could potentially cut off the end of it to make it fit, don't believe I would lose anything with that modification. See...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

It appears there is a fixed stop on the front of the Y slide that prevents the vertical head from extending off the front of the machine. Also very interesting that they have two different sets of driving gears for the various heads. A slightly smaller gear for driving the vertical head, and...

    FP1 Veritical Head Removal

FPS is telling me that the construction of Aktiv Digital FP1 is different than older style FP1, and that the only way to remove the veritical head completely is from the back. Very annoying since I don't have a lot of space between the rear of my machine and the wall...will have to measure to...
