High feed cutters and vertical walls

I know well that you are not supposed to cut a vertical wall with a high feed cutter at normal high feed chiploads. However, I have removed many tonnes of material (tens if not hundreds of, and plenty of difficult materials amongst it) doing exactly this over the last two decades that I have...

DN Solutions vs Leadwell vs Takisawa vs DMG Mori

A26 is integrated motor spindle vs gearbox and belt drive on the S26 and has a different turret. I think they are pretty much the same otherwise.

DN Solutions vs Leadwell vs Takisawa vs DMG Mori

Is that the S26 or the A26?

DN Solutions vs Leadwell vs Takisawa vs DMG Mori

Victor make excellent lathes. Maybe they didn't in 1985, but idk about that. I have a 1997 VTurn 36, bought another brand new in 2011, both rock solid reliable workhorse lathes. Basic clones of Mori SL's mechanically, built like a brick shithouse. Fanuc controls with pretty much textbook no...

looking for a VMC for work. What about a Hurco?

I haven't used the conversational side of a Hurco control for years, but here's what I know about it. This from version 8.x Winmax (~2010-2012 machines). Later software versions added more probing functionality like the possibility of probing NC work offsets inside conversational probing and...

Hurco KM-3P stuck on Machine Configuration

It means the batteries have died on the memory board (either batteries, or internal batteries in the Dallas SRAMS). Typing 999 and pressing enter is the correct action, but it has to be in the correct state to do it. Try pressing exit first before you start typing. After that it will let you...

    Start Everywhere in the program.

Hurco are pretty smart about this, their behaviour is a lot like how Seymour describes the Haas above. It's not 100% foolproof, and I don't think it can restart inside a canned cycle, but it works pretty well. As usual, it's just Fanuc that are behind the curve.

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

I have seen and read many accounts of events there, and no, I won't change my mind. Of course there were Russian provocateurs there, just like there are Russian provocateurs right now in Kherson. That fact does not preclude atrocities committed or allowed to be committed by Ukrainian forces in...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

You need to slow down and read what I am writing. First, I am not talking about the US specifically in this context - you will see that I am from the UK, and in this instance I was talking about our providing weapons and training to try and alter the outcome of the invasion. Second, I was...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

Similar to your previous post about the EU being a strait jacket implemented by the US, there is a lot of truth in the content and a lot of bias in the presentation. There is nothing benevolent or altruistic about US foreign policy (not that we should expect there to be), and the meddling has...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

I have a few thoughts on this. 1. Yes, I agree that Russia's goal is to dismantle Ukraine. LPR, DNR, potentially Kherson, I have seen a fair amount of speculation recently about Lviv being reabsorbed into Poland, Hungary taking territory in the southwest, so on and so on. 2. I don't...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

You are dismissing the interventions of our governments because they happen to align with your (as in you) desired outcome. Your (as in all Ukrainians) right to self determination is diminished either way. Our governments chose to try and influence the outcome. Many of us, including me, aren't...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

By and large, I do not disagree with any of that. I am aware of the preceding events and history. Note that I have never claimed that the US is the only culpable party. I'm not sure how you think this degrades or disproves my previous comments? Look at it from a different angle then. What...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

An armed conflict between Nato or EU members? Obviously unlikely, but Nato and EU departures are significantly less unlikely. European nations are currently faced with the dilemma of capitulating to Russia and feeding their population and warming their homes, or capitulating to US/Nato peer...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

Why do you think there is so much division in Europe currently? So much struggle to maintain a "united front" across all members? Why so much juggling and "suspensions" of the imposed sanctions? Nato is a projection of US foreign policy, there is no point in pretending otherwise. There is the...

What would it mean to manufacturing if Finland and Sweden joined NATO?

A good friend of mine is an engineer at a Finnish manufacturer of plywood and timber processing machinery, a fairly large company, I'd probably better not name them. Russia and laterly China compose the bulk of their sales. A couple of days ago their CEO quit, immediately after making...

    Service tech overcharging us. Legality?

The original contract stated that they would seek approval for any works over the initial quoted value, right? To your knowledge they did not seek such approval. If you are confident that they cannot produce proof of approval from an executive employee, pay the quoted value* and not a penny...

    FeatureCAM Question: Deburr Radius

    FeatureCAM Question: Deburr Radius

Basically, yes. edit: I'm not sure that I've ever wanted to do what you want to do with a roughing path (why do you want to do this?), so I'm not sure exactly how the roughing passes will respond to this method. They might do one edge at a time, in which case you would probably have to remove...

    FeatureCAM Question: Deburr Radius

The brute force method of making FC cut point to point with zero corner rounding is to use trimmed geometry instead of chained curves when defining your feature.
