Need help with o-ring selection for hydraulic cylinder on a surface grinder

thanks, you think these would work for the square rings (the one that's corroded in the OP) - basically it's the one that holds the hydraulic fluid in the piston and the rod goes through the center back and forth.

Need help with o-ring selection for hydraulic cylinder on a surface grinder

looks like a really cool site! my problem though is I'm not sure what all the correct terms are for the different seals in a piston... I was assuming the seals in the block at each end of the rod that keep the fluid in the tube are called the 'rod end seals' (they are square o-rings, not round)...

Need help with o-ring selection for hydraulic cylinder on a surface grinder

also, anyone know what this type of seal is called? it was installed at the end of the shaft that goes in the cylinder. The flat part goes into an internal recess in a bronze bushing. searching for the number on the seal doesn't reveal anything. this is a 50 year old machine haha

Need help with o-ring selection for hydraulic cylinder on a surface grinder

Hey guys... My transverse hydraulic cylinder on my Harig 618 surface grinder is leaking at the end. I took the table off and got into it and found a crumbled o-ring... there are also other o-rings on it that I should replace while I'm in here. My problem is I'm not sure which specs to choose...

Anyone using Microsol 585tx in their surface grinder?

I've been using for a while and seems to work great (love this stuff, doesn't get sticky/tacky and no film, lasts forever), just wanted other opinions on if this is the right stuff for the job.

favorite surface grinding wheel for hardened steel?

Yeah sorry about that. I grind everything from D2 to A2 to M390 to S90V and 10V. Mainly I want to be able to focus on getting a good finish on M390 with the capability to get decent finishes elsewhere. I'm normally using an open dress (such as in the video below) which finish was better than...

favorite surface grinding wheel for hardened steel?

Yeah I did balance using the Suburban tool method... I was under the impression that you wanted to balance the wheel dry with no coolant in it because that can throw it off? What do you guys think about Radiac wheels?

favorite surface grinding wheel for hardened steel?

Hey guys! I routinely grind hardened steel blades with some really hard tool steel and stainless. Any favorite wheels? Also, what do you think about this finish in the video? (I didn't spend time getting it perfect but there does some to be some dotted lines about every 1/8" that look kinda...

Just got a Harig 618 surface grinder! Questions inside :)

Thanks! I was wondering what that small line was for! So what is that cup behind the lube pump for? And why is it so inconvenient to get to if it needs to remain checked and filled?

Can someone check out my surface grinder ways in these videos?

Thanks Bruce. Yeah it is from the 80's or 90's,so definitely an older machine. I got it from a college machine shop when they upgraded. One thing I like about this Harig is that the oil pump makes way oil constantly flush the ways and lead screws with oil which is then filtered and...

Can someone check out my surface grinder ways in these videos?

just want to double check these look good as far as you can tell? Any thoughts or things you can see I need to address? I didn't pull the saddle off because it would have been a pain to disconnect all the hydraulic lines.

Just got a Harig 618 surface grinder! Questions inside :)

Got this thing running guys! next up will be grinding the bottom of the chuck for a good fit to the table. I made my own coolant system w/ some tupperware containers and a 25 micron filter from mcmaster carr that the drain goes into, seems to work really well! Question: does anyone know how...
