Recommend a roughing tool for 2.5" bores in 2" A514?

That's why I suggested a roughing endmill, a "corncob", which will give you broken chips rather than razor blades. OTOH, you could sell the blades to Gillette - business opportunity!

I keep hearing that this winter will be bad for manufacturing in Europe.

When did you say you don't support them?

Never will accept people who support insurrection in my country. Never will accept people who support a Russian dictator who invades a neighboring country. Yeah, I'm good with accepting that about myself.

    City permit woes

They must work well in some areas, but there's enough stories of them being breeding grounds for petty tyrants that I'd not want to be part of one.

I question the motivation of posters who seem to be supporting a viscous dictatorship. Sorry if that's not to your liking.

It's factual, so that makes it good enough. You?

I can't help but notice the many posters who rail against the US military in this (and related) threads. Since there's limits to my time to rebut (and other reasons), I'm going to point out to the open-minded reader that caution should be used when reviewing content like that. Both Russia and...

    Ebay's latest personal info harvest

We have watched Republicans and their sympathizers go from the "Law and Order" Party to the "Tax Cheat and Insurrection" Party. And look at who's supporting them here? The same folks who have a curious taste for Russia and its tactics. Hmm, a coincidence? Or no...

WW2. Not today, and not relevant to this conversation. I hope this history will be written accurately, and not through the Russian filter.

    Better Plating - 2011 or 2024?

This is what one site claims: Alloy 6262‐ This alloy is one of the few aluminum alloys developed specifically for machining applications including screw machine and CNC machine products. Due to its lead and bismuth content, alloy 6262 combines good machinability with high strength, high...

Choosing the right end mill for milling aluminum on a CNC router

I'd start with a single or two-flute carbide endmill, stub flute when available. Maybe ZrN or TiB2 coated, not critical. Light depths, multiple passes, high-ish speeds, no bigger than 1/4"/6mm to start. Try some test cuts in scrap material and change variables, note what seems to do well...

    Better Plating - 2011 or 2024?

My experience with 7075 is that it's a nice, short chipping cut. Much more "brittle" chips, clean and less likely to BUE than 6061. If stress noncorrosive cracking is an issue, 7050-T7451 is ace, almost 7075's strength but good SCC properties. Anodizes the same.

Is the increase in munitions and military maintenance spending translating into more business for smaller shops?

This will be interesting to follow. My conviction is that the ability of 1940's America to product Materiel is what won WW2, and our strength in that area is much diminished. And that's a major concern for me.

So you're ignoring the massive deaths, kidnappings, and destruction of civilian property that's a couple orders of magnitude greater than what the USA has done that's occurring due to Russian actions. Purposely, which the USA does NOT make a habit of. Got it...
