Which Deckel is this?
I think on internet sales, the tax added is according to your local sales tax rate, not the location of the item being sold, so your purchases are paying tax into the local tax coffers.- rimcanyon

Adding a Monarch 10ee Taper Attachment
The thrust block I was referring to is rectangular and is screwed to the bottom of the rectangular bar. It has a bronze bushing in it and recesses for a pair of thrust bearings at each end.- rimcanyon

fp2 table overhaul
My column y-slide way had .003" of wear at the front, and the Y slide was worn .002". This was not the first rebuild, so I guessed the total wear was twice that. The turcite I used was .012" thick. Monarch 5C collet nose
I had a Litton Q lathe with a Monarch 5C Spindle nose on it. Tried to sell it for almost a decade before I finally found a buyer. It went for $350 including the collet nose. I should have scrapped the lathe and sold the nose.- rimcanyon

Best way to shorten a power hacksaw blade
Carbide end mill did the job, thanks for the suggestions. However, even with a carbide end mill, i had stacked five blades to machine in one go (with teeth alternating side to side so that the stack remained flat), and the bottom blade fractured just like the blade I tried drilling with a... -

Thanos, it is a good idea, I will check. Since I posted above, I have scraped the Z axis gib flat. It took a lot of work, it had a lot of wear at the thinner end. It is not completely done (no attempt at spotting or flaking), because I decided it would make more sense to finish the scraping...- rimcanyon

Choices: Collet chuck for 10ee
+1 Ross. Both 5C and 2J collets have at least twice the length to diameter ratio that any ER collet has. 2J collets are a lot heavier than the equivalent 5C collet, and I have seen a lot more sprung 5C collets than 2J collets. 2J collets also have the advantage of a larger size range compared...- rimcanyon

Very early Monarch 10ee
The MT2 arbors you will need for the Jacobs chuck are available from lots of sources. I bought mine from Grand tool, but MSC and Traverse carry them as well. The chuck will say what kind of arbor it needs, e.g. JT2 or JT3. The arbors are available in all combinations, e.g. a MT2 - JT2 arbor.- rimcanyon

Best way to shorten a power hacksaw blade
My power hacksaw takes 12" blades. I have some 14's and a couple 18's so I would like to shorten them to 12". What is the best way to put the hole in them? These are really hard (I tried a ¼" carbide tipped drill bit and the blade shattered into three pieces)... -

If you already have an AXA or can find one cheap, it will work fine. Otherwise, I would pick BXA. Why? It takes larger tool holders, so there is a better selection of tooling available. A lot of people also like the Swiss Multiquick 40 position toolpost. I believe that is Ross' favorite...- rimcanyon
