    Monarch 13 EE video.

I've been selling 10EE parts on this forum for 20 years, never had a complaint. A few lathes have been sold here over the years. I say go for it.

    Which Deckel is this?

I think on internet sales, the tax added is according to your local sales tax rate, not the location of the item being sold, so your purchases are paying tax into the local tax coffers.

    10EE T-slot cross slide

Or buy a 10EE cross slide and machine T-slots in it. I have an extra cross slide if that option has any interest for you. $150 plus shipping.

Adding a Monarch 10ee Taper Attachment

The thrust block I was referring to is rectangular and is screwed to the bottom of the rectangular bar. It has a bronze bushing in it and recesses for a pair of thrust bearings at each end.

    fp2 table overhaul

My column y-slide way had .003" of wear at the front, and the Y slide was worn .002". This was not the first rebuild, so I guessed the total wear was twice that. The turcite I used was .012" thick. If the turcite is too thick its not hard to scrape, a lot easier than iron. The Y screw and nut...

    fp2 table overhaul

Thanos, I wrote a long note responding to your question. Thought I had submitted it, but the computer crashed, so it is gone. One thing I remember saying was to look in Bruce's thread linked above. He ran into the Z axis alignment issue even though he had not scraped any slides. His solution...

Adding a Monarch 10ee Taper Attachment

Steve's point about a 72 possibly having a telescoping leadscrew means that you will have less parts to source if your machine is so-equipped. However, the way the leadscrew mounted to the machine is different. You will still need the thrust block and the flat bar that fits in the slot on the...

    10EE T-slot cross slide

Monarch made a t-slotted platen for 10EE Manufacturing Lathes, but it would be extremely difficult to find. This is from a catalog flier dated 10/46, but the photo shows a Round Dial. Here is a catalog photo: They also made a two-position cross slide with 2 T-slots at each end (4 total)...

    Monarch 5C collet nose

I had a Litton Q lathe with a Monarch 5C Spindle nose on it. Tried to sell it for almost a decade before I finally found a buyer. It went for $350 including the collet nose. I should have scrapped the lathe and sold the nose.

Best way to shorten a power hacksaw blade

Carbide end mill did the job, thanks for the suggestions. However, even with a carbide end mill, i had stacked five blades to machine in one go (with teeth alternating side to side so that the stack remained flat), and the bottom blade fractured just like the blade I tried drilling with a...

    fp2 table overhaul

Thanos, it is a good idea, I will check. Since I posted above, I have scraped the Z axis gib flat. It took a lot of work, it had a lot of wear at the thinner end. It is not completely done (no attempt at spotting or flaking), because I decided it would make more sense to finish the scraping...

    Choices: Collet chuck for 10ee

+1 Ross. Both 5C and 2J collets have at least twice the length to diameter ratio that any ER collet has. 2J collets are a lot heavier than the equivalent 5C collet, and I have seen a lot more sprung 5C collets than 2J collets. 2J collets also have the advantage of a larger size range compared...

Off Topic: interesting find in file cabinet construction

Does it have combination locks for the drawers? Maybe it was for secure docs.

    Very early Monarch 10ee

The MT2 arbors you will need for the Jacobs chuck are available from lots of sources. I bought mine from Grand tool, but MSC and Traverse carry them as well. The chuck will say what kind of arbor it needs, e.g. JT2 or JT3. The arbors are available in all combinations, e.g. a MT2 - JT2 arbor.

    10EE thirteen shades of OIL

Did you? DTE24 has a kinematic viscosity of 31.5 and it is a hydraulic oil.

    10EE thirteen shades of OIL

DTE 24 for the headstock/spindle. DTE Heavy Medium for gearbox.

    10EE thirteen shades of OIL

You should be just fine. I have used DTE oil in my 10EE for years.

Best way to shorten a power hacksaw blade

My power hacksaw takes 12" blades. I have some 14's and a couple 18's so I would like to shorten them to 12". What is the best way to put the hole in them? These are really hard (I tried a ¼" carbide tipped drill bit and the blade shattered into three pieces)...

    Very early Monarch 10ee

If you already have an AXA or can find one cheap, it will work fine. Otherwise, I would pick BXA. Why? It takes larger tool holders, so there is a better selection of tooling available. A lot of people also like the Swiss Multiquick 40 position toolpost. I believe that is Ross' favorite...
