OT: GM driving procedure for get sensors on the vehicle to be recognized after the computer is reset?

Actually the frog jumps out. The human simply buys another car.

OT has anyone here had tooth implants?

"The really good assistants have no time for that shit while they're working," My regret: my last dentist, and his tech assistant, retired together. (the new crew seems pretty darn good though) and it was amazing to watch the two of them working together. Hardly a full sentence was uttered...

Insufficient Electrical Supply? Manual lathe slow to start

"Series just add them up. Parallel takes some math to figure it out." Umm, maybe the opposite?

how long to scrape a dovetail slide, like a compound?

For that slide shown above, it was a HSS cut-off blade, worked up on a grinder to get into the corners, and that was jammed into the end of a short piece of dowel and clamped in place. Mr. King would have barfed up his lunch if he saw that. I *never* figure out how to do small dovetails right...

how long to scrape a dovetail slide, like a compound?

It's like painting - 90 percent of the work is in the prep. Fussy for sure. My problem as a novice was maintaining good geometry when trying to scrape off a lot. And as mentioned, for a fairly worn dovetail slide, it's not uncommon to see the 'one or two thou' problem eventually be revealed...

how long to scrape a dovetail slide, like a compound?

Anything more than about a thou, requires machining to get it close. Also badly worn assemblies often need to be cut 5-10 thou deep before the slideways clean up from the wear marks. In some cases it's worth simply manufacturing new parts rather than trying to save old ones. This permits...

OT has anyone here had tooth implants?

I had mentioned my dislike for lidocain (what he was actually using I believe) because of the long-lasting after-effects. He mentioned about the adrenaline, that he does not use. I still have routine work done without anasthetic, the modern high-speed water cooled drills are amazing. He...

Insufficient Electrical Supply? Manual lathe slow to start

SWAG: Your rotary converter is undersized. You can try tuning it with capactitors to bring up the manufactured leg. A better approach woud be to upsize to a 15 hp idler motor for your converter.

How do i open this lathe motor? kinda stuck halfway-

That's a capacitor start motor? If so there's a centrifugal switch on the other side that's holding the rotor from coming out the back side (the side shown in your photo).

OT has anyone here had tooth implants?

One dentist I used years ago explained that the novocain with ephinephrine in it, is often used by dental students because they take a long time to do the work. He used anasthetic without.

I keep hearing that this winter will be bad for manufacturing in Europe.

"All the libs I come across only want to chastise me ..." Yes. Because you call them LIBS. Like if I call you a republican retard. A stupid christian republitard. See how that made you feel? Same then when you use the term LIBS. +

Again, break it down to smaller bite-sized chunks if at ALL possible. This machine can be moved by one person, no moving aids at all this way. Toughest part is unbolting the legs. If you do both at once and lift the bed off, they'll fall over and break. Best is a helper for *this* operation...

OT has anyone here had tooth implants?

"basic signaling mechanisms used by the embryonic dental epithelium and mesenchymal cells (tooth bud) to control the timing and development from the bud to the mature tooth." Interesting. I knocked a tooth out of my mouth in 7th grade. Was root-canalled on the bench and re-inserted...

Hello, first post, first lathe, could use some advice

"However there doesn't seem to be any motor mounting provision on this machine..." There's a countershaft setup clearly visible in one of the photos. I either mounts to the rear of the lathe or to the benchtop (can't be sure) but likely the motor mounts to the plate on the countershaft...
