I've done some searching, but nothing I have found seems to work. Hopefully some of you guys might be able to help. I have an OKK HM600, with a Fanuc 310is-Model A controller.
I have 3 programs on the data server. They are too big to fit on the CNC Memory. All 3 run back to back, strung...
I'm working on a part for a friend, that could end up going into production. He's trying to see if he'll be able to sell it for enough $ to make it worth his time, so I'm trying to make it as cheaply as possible. I know everyone is doing the one and done stuff now. This is a pretty simple...
Has anyone used this style of tool break detection? How did you like it? Pro's/Con's? We aren't worried about actually setting tools as we have a Zoller Presetter, so a laser is overkill.
I've only used the Contact setters from Renishaw, and lasers.

I've been asked to set up a deburr procedure for an aluminum casting we make, historically, very little deburring is done at the machine, in this shop. In addition to some other tools, I was planning to use an angle, and straight die grinder for Rolocs and scotch brite cross-buffs. I've...
Has anyone found a good storage solution for SK Collets? We have lots of SK6, SK10, SK16 collets. I have them in a drawer, kind of separated in sections, but it always involves some digging to find what I need. Just curious what anyone else has done.
Is it possible to make Mastercam post B rotations, even though both toolpaths are at B0., but different work offsets? I have 2 fixtures, with slightly different B work offsets, so I want to unlock the pallet, rotate, and lock. But when I post these, it seems like Mastercam just sees B0, and...
Do any of you have experience with StreamingTeacher Mastercam training? I've done a little of CamInstructor, and Emastercam, and both just seem very robotic, and more about repetition than "why" or "how". If that makes sense. Streaming Teacher, from the quick glance I took, seemed a little...
Do you guys actually notice a difference with coatings for aluminum in endmills? (Like ZRN/ZPlus)
I've been using a lot of the new Garr A3 endmills (polished, uncoated) and my finishes seem better, bad I don't seem to notice any loss of tool life. Not to mention, Helical has like 4 coatings...
Has anyone tried any of these??

I have a deep pocket in an aluminum part (4.2") and I'm currently roughing it with a 1", 2 flute Ingersoll Hi-Pos Alu. I use a shorter tool to reach what I can, then move to a longer tool. Unfortunately...
My employer has an OKK HM600, with a Fanuc 310is-Model A controller. There were some older guys here, years ago, who did some strange (strange to me, anyways) things with some of the machines. They seemed to prefer subprograms vs. a regular M code for things like tool changes, and pallet...
I'm having some issues getting a good floor finish in aluminum. I'm using a Garr A3 endmill, 1/4" with 1" LOC, and .03"c/r.
I left .010" on the floor for finishing, and am running the endmill at 650 SFM, and .0021fpt, 60% stepover in a fairly new SK10 holder. I seem to just get a bunch of...
I found this study, which claims that soaking for 1 hour, at 290deg C will give the least distortion, while still retaining strength, in 6061-T6. Won't heating above 350deg F anneal the material, and lose the T6 condition though?
I have some very thin parts, and would like to stress relieve...
We have a couple of OKK's in the shop I work in, and if you have the feedrate up to, say 120%, and you press feed hold > cycle start, the machine alarms, and you have to reset, and start over. This is particularly a pain when proving our new programs, or trying to play with speeds and feeds...
I'm trying to add a custom G-Code for fixture tracking. A poor mans DWO. I've installed it on other machines with no issues. This particular machine is giving me a hard time though. The machine is an OKK HM600 w/ a Fanuc 310is-MODEL A controller.
I'd like to use G16 to activate. I put a...
I'm doing some pretty heavy aluminum roughing on an HMC. The chips blasting the window has caused the aluminum to kind of smear, or gall on the window. I thought it was getting scratched, or frosted at first, but it's definitely built up aluminum.
Any suggestions for removing this? I've...
Anyone use carvesmart jaws, and have an issue with them not repeating? I just bought 8 sets of aluminum soft jaws to go on some Orange Vises I have. I was surprised to see that the dovetail feature is nothing more than an extrusion. I noticed some issues that made me think the jaws aren't...
I have a few questions about the 4 orange vises we have on a tombstone, if anyone here is using them in a similar setup.
What do you do to hold the carrier up when you're changing jaws? I find can be pretty dangerous when you're taking a jaw off the dovetail with one hand, and trying to hold...
Seems pretty simple, but I have a large hogout, aluminum, 26.5"x15.5"x6.5". It's about 200lbs. For the very first operation, the operator is hand drilling/tapping 5 holes in the part, and I'm trying to take some work off of the operator, and he is already very busy running multiple machines...
We have a relatively new (less than 2yo) Matsuura H.Plus-500. While cutting a part awhile back, made of 17-4 H1150 we ran into some vibration issues. The part had to be moved to this machine, from an old 50 taper VMC because of the VMC going down for a seperate issue. I was using an Ingersoll...
I'm machining some 15-5, H900. HSM toolpath, 485SFM, 8% WOC, varying DOC, from .5 to 2.0, and .002"ipt. Will I have better luck running this with coolant, or air blast? Running on an HMC, so chip evac is no issue.
BTW, it's this endmill -----> Helical Tool
