Hi guys,
We have a part that we are making that is .032 6061 sheet, and the parts are about 6"x60" with lots of features. Currently we have a pretty bad scrap rate and the cut quality is trash because even down at 100psi or so and a 1.0 nozzle that sheet shakes so bad it's all tip touches and...
So, we are looking at some parts that need a 9.53 degree (included angle) tapered hole in them, about .55" to .75" diameter. How does a guy go about making those?
It is darn close (probably close enough) to 2"/ft or to 9.5 degrees but I can't seem to find any tools that size either.
The...
Hi,
Mods, if there is a better place for this post to be, please move it!
Anyway, in light of things going on in the world, I would like to offer a sponsorship to someone if they are wanting to come to the US and work. The company my mother works for sponsors quite a few people who work for...
I remember that many companies were talking about not going to IMTS last time before they even cancelled it because it was expensive and they decided it wasn't "worth it", and that many companies in my industry didn't go to SEMA last fall... is it going to be a ghost town at IMTS this year, or...
I was given (ish, if it works they want a couple bucks but it's pretty cheap) an older Iemca barfeeder, a 1997 65TALauto. It has rubber guides in it and a big ol' pusher rod and things such as this that are all 'sized to the stock' and you can't seem to get them any more, but they have an...
So, we have an old Amada HA-400 saw that has multi-stroke capability. It uses this Koyo counter thing to choose if you want it to run the shuttle once, or inchworm several times to set the length of the cut. Lately when it finishes a cut it clamps the shuttle jaws, unclamps the main jaws, runs...
I have been screwed over by our local scrap guys for the last time I think... I am considering just hanging onto our 6061 until we have a truckload or more and then selling it. Does anyone know of a bigger buyer? One of our guys that came from the aerospace world had mentioned that a former...
Hi all,
So, I have a FP5NC which I am trying to get fired up, and I can't seem to get the screen to light up. When I throw the power switch I get a whole bunch of LED's lit up in the cabinet, but nothing on the console lights up. I think from the instruction manual that I just need to press...
Hi Guys,
I am trying to fire up an old Deckel FP5NC before hopefully finding it a new home, and I am having an issue with it letting the smoke out of a resistor on (what I think is the) 5vdc power supply board. I have replaced it once, with a 100 ohm resistor as it appears to be indicated as in...
Hey everybody,
So, I have a gweike (cheapish but not the cheapest chinese) 44x36 co2 laser that has been doing weird stuff lately and finally became unusable. It was getting weaker and weaker last fall, so I assumed that the tube was starting to give up because it is like 5-6 years old and sees...
The post about transparent pricing made me think, (and also hauled scrap today and can't hardly walk anymore... :willy_nilly: ) Why can't we people put numbers out here and make things somewhat more transparent? I almost only cut 6061 and have been paying $2.35 at EMJ here in Kansas City...
I knew I should have paid better attention in school... Ha.
Anyway,
So I have a part that needs tipped left 3.1716 degrees, and tipped back 2.777 degrees, and I am trying to add the angles so I can program this as a 3d cut on my mill as one 'x-z' angle, translated in 'y' but rotated at an...
Okay, so I am making these 6061 parts on a regular commodity 40x20 machine from 2011, and using a program I have been using for years to make a part I have made hundreds of. The program starts off roughing the outside with a 3/4" three flute zrn coated carbide endmill, 10k .4375 doc, 130ipm...
My air handler has a heating coil on the back of it, and I am pretty sure it is set up for 480, being's when I put 240 to it it only gets like maybe 20 degrees above ambient... in the side there are multiple taps like on a12 pole 3 phase motor, but it seems to be wired a touch differently than...
Hi guys,
I am looking for a potential right hand guy making a mix of our own product line of performance aftermarket parts for road race cars, and also we do some diversified stuff for medical and oilfield applications. The position is kindof open ended, as we are a smaller shop, so there would...
Hey guys, working on this new (pretty darn used) saw, and I got it to run for a few minutes, and now it just wants to throw the blade off the inside of the drive pulley. Does anybody know if there is any adjustment on that pulley or the guides that would help this situation? I have taken...
Oh guys, I am having issues with this Amada saw I snagged a while back and havnt really run yet. Right when I got it, I hooked it up to a transformer I had laying around and it seemed to work fine, cut a couple pieces of 2x4 in auto mode and everything. Now I am setting up the new shop, and...
Hi Everybody,
I just got one of these guys, and have been setting it up. So far everything seems to be going ok, but I was wondering if anyone out there has played with one of these before, I just did a mode burn at the resonator and am not sure what is good or what is bad... It has one peak...
Hey guys,
I am switching a saw over to 230, and for some reason the diagrams on yhe motors are not making any sense to me. I am used to the motors with 9 wires coming out and you tie a couple together here and there to supply, and then three of them together, or etc. These guys have 6 wires...
I have a job making a half dozen parts out of 1/8" Acrlic that have their edges broke at a 90. My plastic supplier guy says that you don't need to apply heat to this, just put it in a brake. The question I have is two-fold... First, have any of you actually done this, is it touchy not to crack...
