    What gap do the rings have.....they dont look too bad to me ...........such wide rings will likely have to be custom made ,and that will be $50-$80 for just one cylinder set..............compressor pistons have to come close to the head ,or the compressor wont work ,so some replacement is not...

    Some of the early diesel locos here had only one powered axle in each bogie ......not ideal,but seemed to work OK .....on a dry day ,anyway.

    Id think if you said 'hand cranked winch' to a millenial or zoomer,they would faint away...............Incidentally ,the winch on the trailer is what used to be called 'double purchase'......meaning you could crank at a high and low ratio by using the square shafts shown..................I saw...

    Copper will go lumpy if plated to 010............you will have to plate oversize and grind/turn to size.............Id suggest you get some chemicals and do it yourself ...........copper plate is not difficult.

    Metric version of o-ring boss fitting. Whats it called?

    It should be noted that in o ring hydraulic fittings ,the o ring is only slightly crushed ......its not dimensioned to fill the groove as its clamped tight.,if the fittings arent metal to metal the o ring will be extruded ...............you may simply have poor quality o rings fitted.

    An old time solution to cast iron gear breakage was to include a round flange on one side of the teeth to reinforce them.........this would be easy to do with printed gears.

    They usually have a selector for engage or free .......may be stuck...............dont have that type ,but do have Yales and Fuji s ,and all have a selector.

    Where a phenolic gear and steel gears mesh together ,the steel gears wear worse than the phenilic .......a lot of geared drill presses have a number of phenolic gears ,so they can run with minimal lubrication.

    1095 in spring temper is easily machinable with carbide ,and can be drilled and sawed with HSS tooling at low speed....Silicon steel is used for car and truck springs due to its resistance to abrasive wear and 'digging in' ,properties not required for a crossbow.

    Id think for small pieces of steel,then 'stubs silver steel ' would be OK ..........otherwise you will have to buy a sheet of 1095 ,or somethink comparable.You will either need a proper oven with a pyrometer. and a quench tank ........alternatively you can heat ,quench ,and temper by the old...

    i recall many years ago ,getting a starter off a big Mitsubishi diesel repaired ....even though the excavator was only five years old or so ,no replacement was available,and the auto electric place charged me over $1000 to just get it working again ,no replacement parts far as I could...
