The 2G used 22 22c and 22d collets 22 is up to 1" each one requires different sleeve and nose nut.
Genovese in Conn. still makes repair parts and has used tooling 1 800 581 9944.
The machine you have is 1945 numbers went up to 14600s in 1951 went to split 542-2-????s stopped making the
2G in 1954. The belt on the rear is different than usually see. The pulley on bottom is reversible from either
2 or 4 inch the smaller doubles cycle, index, and feed time, but runs...
I've been using balance tools on B&S for years the concept should be similar. The main job used on
turned 1" stock down to .245 in one pass. Cutter one was slightly ahead by a few thousands and went
from 1" down .625 cutter two finished it down to .250 but cleaned up with form tool I would...
I would go with Brownies if can find at auction. On older g machines (1940s) usually go very cheap.
Still make repair parts, easy set up, on cut off job set up is under 2 hours even for novice. One
collet, one pusher, change cut off cam, very fast and easy. But the time killer is loading...
I agree if you have floor space several brownies set up and ready to go is a nice way to go. We have
limited space so shoving in corner till needed without tube is nice. An 1 1/4 2g would run everything
and not cost over $2000 and one guy could run 6 cutoff jobs no problems. RD
Used to have a couple traubs and they were made most as a cutoff machine. I could do more with the
Brown and Sharpe so went with them. Most of your inexpensive machines are going to be single bar loads.
B&S made a Lipe bar feed to feed multiple bars that worked decent. A used cnc lathe with...
The 9/16 typically came with 3/4 shank I'd call screw machine parts dealers. They might
have one or you can make one out of a chunk of 3" solid. Turn and tap two holes in mill. RD
standard geometric diehead they made a lot of them, work great The plunger on the front was usually
removed or came lose and fell out. They worked better if trying hold tolerence on length of thread
pushed forword till plunger hit plate in front of spindle. The standard way they are used is...
For sale 2 #3 ultra B&S screw machines (2").

When I first started running swiss cnc I tried using coolant through without high pressure
and it didn't seem to run any better than flood coolent. Next machine I bought high pressure unit
and couldn't believe difference. Not sure what pressure is with standard oil pump guessing 40-80 psi...
You can make a lot of
parts on the G brownies with little overhead. A few years back you could buy for just above scrap.
Picked up a few just for parts. You go to an auction buy a machine and pay for it on the first job.
My biggest complaint was sorting through parts to pick out the last...
The other reason I wouldn't do coolant drill is you can't speed up the job. Its
either speed up whole job or buy new cam. A coolant drill isn't going to help break chips unless you use
high pressure. Unless you alread have unit the oil from machine will not help. RD
The brownies were bad to mis index by either skipping a station or doing it twice. You
buy expensive tools then break several in one day and it makes you leary of buying
expensive tools. RD
Yes You won't need to peck. I never used coolant though on brownies because every time I bought
a nice tool for a job it would double index. $150 drill vs $20 cobalt SNAP!!! There is brownie dealer
in your area by the name of Genovese that I've always got the best price on repair parts. RD
Cutting notches will not hurt anything I do it all the time. Notches only need to what you could
get with a triangular file but the cam is case hardened. You can also have a peck cam made but would
cost the price of new cam. The lead cam on a brownie is a six lobe cam using up to all six...
You will need some type of swivel in center of turret and something that I used to do is
take the drill lobe and with a body grinder cut small notches at regular intervals to give a slight
dwell every little bit will also break of the chips. Try to talk customer into 303 and will make life...
