Fadal memory batteries, when to change?

Yes I like ITSCNC as well for Fadal parts, however for small stuff like a battery the cost of shipping and duties to Canada can make ordering with them a bit painful, whereas McMaster Carr shipping to Canada is cheap, fast and easy. For larger stuff like thrust bearings and so on ITS is...

Fadal memory batteries, when to change?

Sorry for necro-posting! Just making an update here instead of creating a new thread as this page is the first result in Google when searching 'Fadal Replacement Battery'. A small correction: The battery that's soldered onto the main board on a Fadal is NOT rechargeable. The battery is a 3.6V...

Electric Bill just went up 2.5x in 1 month

Additional question: How are you able to tell when you lose a panel? Are you running strings, micro-inverters, optimizers? I assume if you're running strings and a panel goes down then the whole string goes down?

Electric Bill just went up 2.5x in 1 month

Here in southern ontario we can choose to be on "Time of Use" or "Tiered" pricing. I have chosen to stay on tiered pricing. First 900kW/h is $0.087, all use after that is $0.103 We have a connection fee and regulatory charges as well: Rural delivery fee: $90.76 Regulatory charges: $8.52 Ontario...

Electric Bill just went up 2.5x in 1 month

Great tips, thanks! I hadn't thought about keeping spares but that's a really good idea! And yeah $55 each was too good of a deal to turn down. I ended up buying the seller out of stock lol. All three inverters in my 3 phase setup will share the same bank of batteries, so there should not be...

Electric Bill just went up 2.5x in 1 month

The panels are 17.3 sq feet each, so 110 of them = 1,903 sq feet, plus extra to allow for a little space between the panels for mounting and so on. I have one really large south sloping roof on the shop that will fit about 50 panels. The remainder will go on other roof surfaces or on the house...

    OT: Solar Panels for house

One other thing to consider is that used solar components are becoming much more available. I recently bought 110x 230W panels that came out of a commercial solar farm that was upgrading to newer panels. The panels I bought were about 7 years old. As far as I can tell (they are not installed...

Electric Bill just went up 2.5x in 1 month

In regards to the 'large UPS' idea: I am actually setting up something similar to that in order to get 3 phase in my new shop... The house has 200A single phase, with 100A split off to the shop. I priced out phase converters (rotary and digital) and the prices were pretty high, and the idle...

    Fadal Under enclosure storage

Yeah I've had solid color floors in a few shops and always ended up hating them. Any tiny patch of damage or a scrape or something sticks out like a sore thumb. I definitely plan on doing a heavy flake like in OP's photos. Besides I NEVER drop small parts so it won't be a problem. 🤣

    Fadal Under enclosure storage

Nice! Yeah I did a similar thing in a more janky fashion by putting casters on some wooden shipping crates I received... On a side note: did you do the epoxy floor yourself? If so, what products did you use and are you happy with it? I am getting close to the point in my workshop renovation...

Kaeser AirCenter - intermittent use for small shop ok?

One other thing I was thinking that might contribute to longevity in this application: might be a good idea to run it for an extended period of time once a month or so, like I accidentally do when sandblasting! This will help keep the oil dry long term... Because the oil and air are so...

Kaeser AirCenter - intermittent use for small shop ok?

I have been running a Kaeser SM10 AirCenter in my small shop for years without any issues. I have relatively low air demand most of the time, and the compressor only runs about 3-4 times per hour when I'm running my mills. The reason I bought it is because a couple on times a month I need a LOT...

Looking for help with hard milling

Hey Derek! We have spoken a little on Instagram, but not in a fair while! I do a LOT of hard-milling for knife blades and have learned a lot through trial and error mainly... Here are some of the things I've learned: Chip Clearing: Air blast is very important to clear chips, prevent chip...

Easy and cheap Fadal screen replacement!

Yes, I have two of them in my shop now and they are both working perfectly. One is about a year old and the other is 3 years old now. I honestly don't think they're 'cheapo' screens, I think they're likely the exact same screens as the Fadal parts sellers use, just without the markup... I...

Contest for the most insane member (They will be a Maho owner)

Dave: I'll be very excited to see the machine cleaned up and fired up! I really appreciate that you're spending the time to do the job properly, it's a shame how many machines end up scrapped just because they need a really good going through and having all the neglect un-done!

A Fadal toolsetting system that doesn't suck!

Hey Travis! Sorry for the slow response, I am still digging myself out of my backlog of emails and so on... That's the reward I get for taking time off over Christmas! :D 1) To use a different tool as the reference tool you need to change all calls to the height of the reference tool in...

Tolerance settings for surface finishing in Fusion 360??

Hey all! For the longest time I thought that my 'old' Fadals simply weren't capable of creating really high quality surface finishes, I would always get small inconsistencies in between passes when doing a finishing toolpath, and that would leave divots and so on that I'd have to hand finish...

    Darin Neagle (aka William Neagle)

I have close relatives who have been in similar situations to what you were in with Darin, it's very hard to watch from the outside and I'm glad that you saw past what he was trying to hide from you! Best of luck going forward!

the art of going fast: Brother Speedio vs Doosan SVM

I don't think that's nearly as crazy as you think it is! Hell just from McMaster you can order rod stock in Birch, Maple and Oak: McMaster-Carr McMaster-Carr McMaster-Carr I'm sure you'd be able to find a source for other lumber in the same form-factor, or rig up a system for turning square...
