    Mill Spindle Dust Cover Remobal

Hi Everyone, I have an Acra 10x54 with a Frejoth head on it. I need to replace the collet alignment screw and to do so I need to remove the dust cover at the bottom of the spindle. I have removed a set screw on the back aand I believe the cover is supposed to unscrew. I cannot get the cover...

    Help Identifying Steady Rests

Hi All, I have a pair of steady rests that I bought at auction thinking they would fit my late. I have a 1985 15 x 54 LeBlond Makino and these two steady rests do not fit. I's like to identify brand to sell or trade for the right steady rests. They are both 15" centers and one might be...

    Concerned About Miller Quality

Wow imagine that...who would really think stainless fittings would do better than cheap Chinese steel...duh. When you pay $$K+ for a Miller verses $500 for HF one might expect to get a better quality fitting...NOPE

    Concerned About Miller Quality

Oh and if anyone is curious go to the Miller support site and look who the authorized service centers are in Albuquerque...Praxair is not the bad one. When you see the name, tie a string on your finger and remember to avoid this guy like the Plague! Super nice guy but a real turd when it comes...

    Concerned About Miller Quality

Thanks every one. I see allot of good comments both ways. I prefer to stick with American brands. My thought is to buy the Miller Multimatic 255 as it has allot of features I like but also buy the Ranger 330 from Lincoln. I'm looking to use the engine driven unit for double duty. It would...

    Concerned About Miller Quality

Allot of great information here, thanks. I had thought of a straight lemon replacement and the upgrade option. Seriously after two main boards yo would think they would just send me a reman unit. I would accept a FACTORY reman. Miller service was pretty "Johnny On The Spot" its just the fact...

    Concerned About Miller Quality

Hi All, I have been a diehard Miller customer for several years and have been right on the edge of buying a Multimatic 255 and Trailblazer 325 since seeing their release. When I first started welding, I did my research on welders, looked at forums and talked with some very experienced folks...

    Military Gas Bottles

never had a receipt from the military, only a bill of sale from the guy I bought the lot from. I figure he got them from the DMRO or they were just mixed in when he exchanged bottles. I imagine there are allot of these out there without a SOLD stamp so I'm not sure how legit of a concern that is.

    Military Gas Bottles

Hi everyone, Wow thanks for all the input. I guess I have to turn on notifications because I didn't realize anyone had replies. Ok so to be clear, I am NOT suggesting stamping a hydro test mark on the bottle!!!!!!! All the bottles have recent test dates except one which needs a hydro...

    Military Gas Bottles

Hi everyone, I have a question about military gas bottles. To the moderator, I recall a post on here a while back about gas bottle history/age but for the life of me I cannot find it. If you know where it is, feel free to point me there and I will move this post there is appropriate. Almost...

    Considering an Acra 10x54 Mill

Hello forum, I have searched around and seen similar topics. I'm weighing a new Southbend 10x54 verses a 10 y/o Acra 10x54. The Southbend specs are readily available and I understand they are made in Taiwan but very good but twice the price. The Acra has a new Frejoth head, comes with two...

    New Heavy 10 project

Thanks for the responses so far! I'll take some better pics of the compound and post them to better understand if it has been modified. The compound and thread dial do look a little more modern than the rest of the machine (maybe 60's era). I have some of the taper attachment parts but the...
