Anilam 1100m Rectangular Pocket Canned Cycle question

When running a rec pocket in abs. Let’s say 5,0 is center of rectangle and its length is 10 and width 5. Is there a way to start the milling cycle from right to left? Everything I try starts closest to 0,0. If I put negatives in length width it throws an error for the corner rad

    Anilam 1100M Servo problem...Help!

lol while typing this I had an idea and it worked. The spike to fill the cap was probably tripping the GFCI, I plugged it into a normal breaker circuit and it worked!!!

    Anilam 1100M Servo problem...Help!

Sorry for the hijack, but I have exactly the same machine and also a servo issue. My machine is working 100% in DRO mode (manually) but I cannot get the X-Y servos to turn on. I have followed this guide ( http://www.illianaindtech.com/PartsBook3-14-14/Anilam-Service/docs/1100guid.htm ) up to...

Multi Start Threading on Manual Lathe Question

Ya for single point measurement my go to method has been using 3 wire and getting between the min-max for pitch dia. Kinda slow but it seems to work.

Multi Start Threading on Manual Lathe Question

Many thanks to everyone on the forum. I learned a bunch so far. I have the correct cutter on order but I wanted to try some of the advice tonight. I did not achieve perfect results but I think now I am on the right path. The biggest change was I set up a drop indicator to track my compound...

Multi Start Threading on Manual Lathe Question

Thanks for the replies, I am still learning the ropes so new perspectives are helpful from experienced machinists. I apologize for messing up some of the terminology but I will get better as I learn. I did actually mark the chuck on my second attempt as this was also a concern I had (no slip...

Multi Start Threading on Manual Lathe Question

Hi all looking for some advice from the group. I’ve tried a couple times without success to cut a multistart thread and wanna reach out. I may be missing something in my setup or my math could be wrong. I’m looking to cut a .75”dia 3 start 60° thread with a 4 tpi lead. So that should be a 12...

Asking for Some Advice/Help SB Heavy 10 Threading

I really appreciate all the advice from everyone. Thats what makes this place great. I don't currently own a set of thread wires. So that's a good call and I will pick up a set. Thats one thing about learning to machine, instead of just blindly going out and buying stuff. I am trying to do new...

Asking for Some Advice/Help SB Heavy 10 Threading

I think my problem is the threads aren't deep enough. Which would make sense, I don't think my process is correct using Machinist Handbook numbers. 2 1/4 -8 Specs for internal thread 3B are; Minor Dia 2.1150-2.1297 Pitch Diameter 2.1688-2.1766 Major Diameter 2.2500 1. I set my...

Asking for Some Advice/Help SB Heavy 10 Threading

Hello all, I have probably tried this about 15 times and never gotten a single point thread to work. I am starting to wonder if my lathe might have metric gears because the thread will always start but then it binds like its slightly the wrong TPI. I'm still learning the ropes here but I have...

What is a good lathe that does imperial and metric? Toolroom Lathe Sized

This is pretty spot on. And I can expand the price range a little, I definitely had in mind a higher end South Bend at that $3k mark. I am comfortable with the $3k-$8k range. It's more I just want to see what's out there for this capability for the smaller machines. Then I can take my time and...

What is a good lathe that does imperial and metric? Toolroom Lathe Sized

I currently have a Southbend Heavy 10 and I know I can get some metric gearing for it but I have some experience on a Clausing-Metosa C1440S and I really like the setup of this machine. Its just too big. What are some good options for a nice an Imperial/Metric lathe that's about the size and...

Calipers need to be zeroed when turned on. Is this normal?

I always reset them for sanity but I was always wondering if temp changes could affect it.
