For several years I ran a 7.5hp IR 2 stage compressor off of a 30hp Phase-a-matic rotary phase converter. A few years back I upgraded to a 10hp 2 stage compressor, and could not get it to start under load off of the RPC. IT would start just fine if the compressor tank was empty, but if I tried...
My generator is not military surplus; it’s an older Kohler with a Cummins Big Cam 400 engine. It had 903 hours on it when I bought it. At that time, 480 3 phase was not available adjacent to my farm (it is today), and it was going to cost a lot of $ to bring it in. The used generator was...
Nothing wrong with doing it the right way. I don't think that you'd have any control panel concerns though unless you were seeing significant voltage drop at the machine during start up.
I run all of my bigger equipment off of a 400hp 480VAC generator, and the smaller stuff off of the 30hp...
Lots of good advice from others in this thread.
I used to have a similar problem to what you're experiencing when I tried to start a 37" wide belt sander off of a 30hp Phase-a-matic RPC.
The sander would spin up around 60% or so, and then a relay would kick out (magnetic starter?) and it...
I have two favorites. One is a Tommy Abernathy 1911. Incredibly smooth action and trigger.
For an out of the box buy, my Walther PDP with a Holosun 507C GR X2 is absolutely fantastic.
NICS delays are almost always due to someone with the same or similar name being flagged in the system. The Fed's will follow up to ensure that you're not the bad guy, but they don't always follow through with an approval - instead relying upon the automatic approval after so many days.
There...
I run both oxy-acetylene and oxy-propane setups here on the farm. My o/a setup is a smaller Victor, and the o/p is a larger Smiths unit.
Although oxy-propane fuel cost much less than acetylene, the drawback is that 1- you will use up much more 02 with oxy-propane than you will with...
Last Christmas my wife gave me the 1,400 ft.lb version of the Milwaukee M18 to replace my 15 year old M28. WOW - what a difference.
We use it all the time on heavy equipment. I rarely break out my air impacts any more.
One other thing to add... my shop focus was in balancing and blueprinting engines. If a crank was not severely damaged, then before grinding any journal (rod or main) we would set it up and check all journals for location accuracy and to determine if we needed to off-set machine the centerlines...
When I had my machine shop, I would grind the worst journal first to make sure that it would clean up at the targeted dimension. So if the crank had spun a rod bearing, I’d grind the rod journals first. Same thing if a main was spun or heavily scored.
What I did not want to do was spend a lot...
S&W’s Airweight PD Model 360 is a 5 shot .357 revolver with a titanium cylinder, stainless barrel and scandium (aluminum alloy) frame. It’s very lightweight and a pleasure to carry.
The Taurus titanium .38 is somewhat heavier, but still significantly lighter than steel offerings.
I’ve owned...
I too ran into a similar problem when I upgraded to a 10hp IR compressor. My 30hp rated Phase-a-matic RPC would not provide enough current inrush power for the 4-6 seconds that it takes for the compressor to come up to speed. The problem is worse in the winter when the compressor oil is...
We have resawn literally tends of thousands of linear feet of veneer using a dedicated horizontal resaw. I’ve used a lot of different bands over the years, but the carbide tipped Laguna Resaw King’s are hands down the best. The ones I use are 1” wide and .035 thick.
Typically we only have to...
ROFLMAO! That ranks right up there with one of the most subtle put-down’s ever! Chapeu!
Seriously, if it’s a router chances are that there is no separate nut that can be replaced with a lock nut. Since it has to be adjusted by hand, loctite is probably not a good option. A very, very slight...
Might be easier to start with a hub from a clutch disc that matches that input shaft. This may allow you to complete your R&D w/o having to spend a lot of $ on a custom connector.
