Shop Floor Programmer is part of what was machining in CATIA in CATIA V5. For operations it is very similar to CATIA machining operations, just with a few more items added. A number of setup structures are new in 3dExperience but definately adapted from CATIA not inspired by Solidworks side...
I think you are aligned with my point more or less.
I pulled two companies who list partnerships with Moduleworks so they use something somewhere, whether it makes up a small or large part of the whole product.
Siemens strikes me as a case of them being open to buy/partner over redevelop if it...
Not every CAM partner listed licenses all the same components and implements them in the exact same way.
You are correct that once items go into the kernel the CAM company can't better the result. However there are differnt ways to call the relevant functions along with defining the input...
With 3dExperience I think the big question is "on premise" cloud vs. DS hosted cloud.
Do not know the details of 3DX and ITAR however I know it is (was) possible to have it all running on owned systems local to an office. However, that necessitates building and maintaining your own instance...
Yes, that seems like the machine sim where the CL was based on the NCI level data not g code. So more parallel to g code than working off of it.
I am talking about something new. G code based. It uses similar emulator software to what has been available in CATIA/3dExperience for years for NC...
Simulating with the G code (inside Mastercam or with an external solution) is really the best way to address the risk.
It does require decently accurate models of:
Tools and Holders
Fixtures
Machine
Yep, I have met the CAMworks guys before.
This is the latest I can see about Delmia and Solidworks.
https://blogs.solidworks.com/solidworksblog/2021/12/design-to-manufacture-introducing-nc-shop-floor-programmer.html
Best I can tell they might be looking to phase over to Delmia for anyone who...
I thought DS was pushing Delmia machining (machining from CATIA and now 3dExperience) as the future. I remember the integration of Delmia and Solidworks being a big talking item a number of years ago at an IMTS. Of course plenty of things have changed over the years.
For what you are describing that behavior will be the same accross all levels of 3dExperience Delmia.
I found that 3dExperience you really need to do everything fully or it can easily go off the rails. Also, I recognize a lot of the issues of trying to intuit how to drive elements of...
Are they both G code based simulation or is just one of them G code simulation capable?
I am more familiar with the Moduleworks based one, which I know there are some options for getting that to run G code based. Not really familiar with the other one.
For editing a file I would agree (I use notepad++ but anything works), Beyond compare is what I use for difference reporting on old vs new version of a NC file. Filtering on regular expressions isn't all that novel but Beyond Compare was the first tool that let me easily filter and flip on/off...
Off the top of my head, I think:
Line numbers
Comments
Sometimes I have it ignore feeds if I have variation in Inverse feed.
It's all done via regular expressions. I have Siemens and ISO (Fanuc) on one filter and Heidenhain needed it's own one.
Beyond Compare has really improved my ability to compare big NC files. It took a bit of time to build some good filters but being able to have it filter down to the lines with significant differences helps me get through comparing exactly what has changed when I revise a post processor.
I have gone through some NC conversion before and this is one of the quick ways to go about it.
With a CAM system that is set up to post for both machines you can also do a quick comparison of posting a series of programs for each machine and then using something like Beyond Compare to view...
In general that flow should work. I might suggest having a verification run that is based on the posted code. Toolpaths sim ahead of the post won't run exactly the same as posted code will given your post could be adding or altering some items.
Haven't done a post for a Mill/Tap but I imagine...
Not familiar with Fusion posts, but when you say you are setup to post simultaneous code are you getting out G141 and the correct XYZ coordinates?
For MillPlus your G141 would be your TCPM code which among other impacts I believe would set your NC coordinate system to travel with the table...
