I found the problem. There was a sheared woodruff key on a bevel gear above the table feed gear box. It wasn't obvious because the key was sheared so cleanly. I got it figured out. Once I figured out where the "E" gear was mounted (28 teeth), it wasn't so hard to calculate. I found a 56 tooth (12 pitch) gear and made it fit.
