I am trying to run my turret lathe on a 10 hp phase converter the motor is a 5hp two speed and it seems it does not like it. Do any of you run yours off of a rpc and if so what size is it? Thanks
I run my shop with a 10hp rpc and have never had any problems untill i tryed to run a warner swasey no. 3 turret lathe. This machine has a 5hp two speed motor with instant reversing. In the high speed range 740-1480 it did not run to good and quit all of the sudden. When i tryed to restart it...
Ok a little more info the plate is .500 in thick. It is long so cant turn on rotory table i am trying do do this with tools i have that being a boring head. I dont have a hole saw big enought and as always trying to save a buck.
I need to cut a 4.500 dia. hole in some Aluminum plate that is to big to hold in the lathe or to place on the rotary table. Can a boring head be used with the bar out to the side if so what type bit? I know about trepanning bits but can a hight speed bit be ground to work and if so what would be...
Sorry to all of you for not getting back untill now i had a computer crash. The bearing was 2in. long 1.250 dia 1in. bore. The ball bearing idea did cross my mind as i have heard of that trick before. In the end i used a new bearing and reduced the outside dia very carefully so that it did not...
I have installed a Bronze bearing and now it is to tight for the shaft to fit. This is not a part that i can put on a machine to bore out. What to do a reamer? Help!
When i took this apart there was no key in the keyway so i am not sure that the part is from monarch or was made by someone and that is way it is longer than it needs to be.
On the back of my tailstock is a part called the Spindle Nut this is held in place by a retaining plate with four screws. As you can see there is a gap should the plate sit flush with the back of the spindle? This is on a 16 by 78 Model C.
Thanks Also just wondering why monarch make this in three parts why not just one peace, do away with the drive parts and just key the worm portion? Any thoughts on this?
Hi harry i am in the process of rebuilding the bushings for my worm drive on the back of the apron as you did in ANT. Did you ever do anything about the taper wear on the I.D of the worm drive? Also what would be a better bronze for bushings 932 or 954 the ones that hold the worm? It looks like...
No at some point someone replaced them with sealed bearings and they slide back and forth on the shaft. I guess if i had to i could make spacers but would like to use what is the right bearing.
If anyone has a C model monarch that is apart that could give me a bearing no. there are two were the leadscrew runs into the gear box. Monarch only has or will supply a part no.
Thank You
Harry would you know by chance what size the taper pins are on the back of the apron that hold the bushings for the worm gear all mine are missing. Thanks
