Part catcher on a 300LM issue. Arm raises and lowers but the 'bucket' just 'flops'. i assume there is a belt or something in the arm to work the bucket, but can find zero info. Any help appreciated.
Man, it is getting harder to stay encouraged with this project as I go deeper in to it. The ways are really worn, but at least evenly through the travel of the carriage. Just had the spindle repaired at a camshaft shop. Got the apron and change gear box off and pretty cleaned up. The gear box is...
Working on a Heavy 10 and have found the half nuts stripped almost beyond use. So......? I have seen folks repair them, or I think there is someone that has new ones?
Thanks.
Well, sold my old SB 16x60 on Friday, and a 10" popped up on c-list Saturday afternoon. It is now mine! Heavy 10, 3 1/2' bed, 1953. Going to need to adjust the spindle shims. Will probably go ahead and get the felt kit and just go thru it a bit.
I was given a full oxy-acc set up, including hoses, gauges(new), torches(Victor, new). Question is it has set for a while, possibly 20 years in this guys shed. Hoses I trashed and have a new set. Haven't hooked anything up yet. I know the tanks will need tested when refilled (if they will!)...
Need to cut the slot for the ejector on a 22 barrel. Thought I'd ask about the angle it is on before trying to set up and guess. Thanks.
That would be the angle of rotation off the mounting flat. Sorry if question is not clear. I am a machinist, not a gun guy. Just happen to be working on some...
Have 3 Wia machines. Loading and downloading programs is not a huge deal, but they are not in a .txt format. I think it shows a .rar file. If I change it to a .txt it will not read when loading. Is there a parameter change for that, or something else?
Thanks.
Older BP with the grease zerks. Someone used them for that. Any good way to clean that out and get back to proper lubing? Also where to buy an oiler for these fitteings.
Thanks.
See if I can explain this right! Started assisting a class at the votech and a guy was working on a program for a Haas lathe. When he would send to his USB, it would send all kinds of info like the tool offset page out of the thing. Make any sense? Anyway, I figure it is a parameter some where...
Anyone ever asked to be put back on machines out of a supervisory position? I am working on that. I don't mind the running of the shop as far as parts and process goes as I have been around this place for most of the last 17 years, and I know the work and parts and assemblies inside out, but...
What is it, and what about machinability? Have a customer that is doing his own research for metals for a small splined gear shaft. Asked him to hold off until I find out more.
Did a little cut off job the other day and it chattered like mad. First time to really do anything on my lathe. Checked end play and it was .035. Then checked spindle up and down at about .006. Pulled the caps off, and there are no shims, well there was one under one side off the back cap...
Finally made some small cuts with the lathe tonight. Shallow, but played around with the rpm and feed. Put a bit of oil in all the oil cups while everything was spinning. There is not a cup on top of the cap on the tail end, and it had some warmth to it when done. Not hot, but the cap behind the...
