Hmmm. First time I've seen a die holder like that. A multi purpose tool.
There are the brand names "Merrill" and "M King" on two taps that have a tapered square drive, but I can find none on the blacksmith taps. There is the designation L on about a 1/3 of them, before or after the thread pitch...
Looks like you nailed it, Mr. Lang.
Prob the reason my taps are odd pitches is they were leftover hardware store stock, sold at auction. Apparently my friend's neighbor spent the last few years of his life going to auctions.
Thanks, though ....I wish. Nothing like weatherization work to keep one humble.
We recently reinsulated an 1830's timberframed building (cellulose), then blower door tested our work. Watched air leaks into the inside with an IR camera while the blower was on. Cold spots at the baseboard, edges...
The model I'm thinking of is warm inside air migrating to the cold outside metal that causes condensation at the metal, or anywhere the dewpoint within the insulation is reached. If the air seal is perfect on the inside, there's no chance of condensation, I get that. The problem being that this...
Thanks for that reference. Also given to me were some taps with a conical square drive, as in figure 444, similar to woodworking bits for use in a brace, but not the same size.
These things are older than I thought....
A friend dropped off a box of antique taps. He's downsizing and finally giving up the goods:).
Amongst oddities like adjustable taps and long taps with 1/2" square drive were these tang driven tapered taps: Most are 26 tpi, some 28, some 17, most of the small ones are 32. No maker's mark...
Spray foam the inside. Cover the poles too, they're thermal breaks.
Any air-permeable insulation (fiberglass, rockwool or cellulose) with a vapor barrier on the cold side will load up with moisture. The metal siding is a vapor barrier, so is on the outside. Closed cell foam as the only...
Yeah, looks homeless to us, but in Chile, esp in the country, there's a lot of peasantry. Not a pejorative, BTW, just people working and living on a lot less than us. They get more respect and services too. Universal health care, for instance, and great bus systems. Buenos Aires is a big...
8W collets are around, but big bucks compared to 5C collets. One can convert the spindle to use 5C's, it's very doable. It's written up somewhere here on PM. I just wrote you a PM too.
Do you have the threaded spindle version?
The site is run by Andy Fitzgibbon, a member here. He enjoys it, but is doing everyone a favor by running it. Be patient.
There are some accessories available on eBay right now for the threaded spindle version: Faceplate, steady (which would also fit the thread-lock version) and follow rest...
Well, there's more info there, thanks.
They've got the right communication protocols, RS 485 for the optional programming module, CANBUSS for battery communication.
Start charging at a certain SOC (state of charge), stop at a certain SOC is inadequate for charging parameters. There should be...
