    Gorton 3u pantograph

Good to know. I must have been into the red wine at the first post, as the motor to intermediate pulley is indeed a V-belt. Luckily, both look to be relatively new. That machine has turned out to be quite handy over the years.

How would you build a sound proof compressor room?

Just to add, they make a special sheetrock with a elastomer in the middle for these applications. Also heavy weight cotton sound insulation, made from ground up denim. And heavy mass vinyl sheeting to seal the insulation before you apply the special sheetrock.

    ELSR Leak

Bob, I think this is what they are referring to (Leadscrew Reverse Mechanism), as it has a grease zerk fitting.

    ELSR Leak

Just for reference, on mine, 59EE, the bearing and switches do not share the same compartment. The actuating shafts for the switches are the only access between the two. It would be difficult to foul the switches with oil in this arrangement.

    ELSR Leak

Maybe for yours, but mine is spec'd Vactra heavy medium in this location. And they say to add every shift, so maybe it is meant to leak a bit.

    ELSR Leak

Memory for me is useless here, but I show what looks like a seal EE 2793, but at $165.(my note in the parts dia.) that seem a bit expensive for a seal, maybe something else. Btw, mine weeps as well...sigh. At this point, I don't care.

    New Trav-a-dial ?

My experience is, if that beveled round tracking disc , the thing that rides against the ways is worn, the unit is worthless. And last time time I checked, that part is NLA.

    New Trav-a-dial ?

Last time I dealt with SWI, it seems the owner died and the wife was just selling off what was left, and there wasn't much. I agree this new Trav-A Dial thing is really looking bogus to me.

Chucks made in Poland - Bison and TMX?

I have a couple of Bisons, set-tru , collet chucks, very good quality, at least they were a few years ago. Used to be great price wise but have gotten a lot more expensive, but no complaints from me.

Schaublin 135 rebuilding project- ongoing thread

If you have an engine rebuilder facility around, they usually have boiling vats to clean engine blocks and such. This will work very well to clean your castings of everything, paint, oil etc. Of course you'll need to strip down the components to nothing. I don't know if this would be available...

    Gearbox rebuild

One thing that was noticed and you can see it in the "before" pics, was that coolant over the years had worked into the drive/threading shafts end compartment. Because these shafts had no real seal, just a labyrinth, the coolant got in and really made a mess of things. I was able to retrofit...

    Gearbox rebuild

What used was from Home Depot under the name of Klenks Tub and Sink epoxy. That was over 20 yrs ago. I understand this is NLA. What I have used recently(under 5 years) was Rust-Oleum 2-part epoxy Tub and Sink Refinishing Kit, and I think I got that from a Ace hardware store as none of the big...

    Gearbox rebuild

If you go back a page on this thread there is a discussion on the paint. Whatever, a two part tub and sink epoxy should do.

Ultrasonic Parts Cleaner for Cleaning Bearings

Experience with motion picture film cameras, using a U/S cleaner on precision bearings was a big NO.
