I made a tool that can do that with ease. First one I made was to turn 3/8 stainless to 1/8 in one pass. Worked great. I have made bigger ones since.

You could turn it 2 foot long without a center if you...
People seem to think the back tool post is mostly for cut off tools. But when running production many times it is used because you need to put a tool there . Sometimes you time a back tool to a front tool to hold a close space for like two grooves. Once set and timed you can hold spacing like...
I have 3 Logan 11 inch turret lathes that would do that job. They have legs on them but you could remove them. I also have a Hardinge dv59 that would be perfect for short run production jobs in fact that is what they were made for.
Traub automatic lathes are very solid and do amazing work. Tricky to learn how to set up. Because front and back slides and two more slides working at 10 and 2 o’clock and another at 12 o’clock. Plus tailstock all working at same time. Check out you tube videos. we ran them for years with no...
I made a tool to turn small dia but the same thing would work for larger dia stock.
I mounted a piece of plate on left of crosslide drilled and bored a bore true to spindle and pinned it so I could remove and replace keeping it true. Moved plate to mill and worked off of that bore to mount 3...
I have had good results repairing 5c collet tubes where’re the threaded parts were worn out by having a welder build up the threaded area and retreading them. The last one I fixed has lasted about 5 years so far.

I have modified collet tubes to fit machines that they were not made for. First see if what holds the collet mechanism at the back end of the lathe. Some have set screws that you can loosen and adjust tube location. It s does not matter if the tube sticks out a little farther in the back. I had...
As a guy who owned a bolt & tap extraction business for 20 years
I would drill ( ALL ) the way thru the bolt . Then try to remove it. That relives some of pressure. And most people only drill part way.
I’m back from my road trip. So I went out to my shop and tool a few pics of W&S collet pads. I don’t think they will fit your turret but you will get the idea of what’s out there. i don’t know how you are going to hold stock. Bar or cut pieces? A turret has 6 positions but it is common to 8 or...
But beware when I was shop foreman one of my coworkers came up to me and told his finger was in the way when he hit the close
button and the whole tip was gone.
I have owned machines that used air power to operate the chucks and they pulled the tube.
also when I bought a new CNC with a 8 inch Kitagawa chuck I think I just had to change the hydraulic fittings to hold on od or Id. Been about 40 years ago so not sure how I did it. Most of the time used air...
They work great if you bore a set of soft jaws with care . I made a set for my CNC lathe over 40 years ago. To hold hex and square bar stock. The set I made now takes pads that fit a #3 W&S on my 11 inch Logan lathe. I also have pads that fit a #5 W&S turret.
