10ee Round Dial Offer Advice

Have the opportunity to purchase a 1944 10ee and some other equipment and really don't know what to offer them. Can't test it under power as it seems to have some sort of problem with the exciter. Everything seems to move freely. Couldn't really check the ways as there wasn't a whole lot of available light. Hoping to go back soon and get some more picks. Currently outfitted with a turret tailstock, but I saw the original on the floor. I think there might be a collet closer too. I was thinking of using current scrap prices as reference for making an offer. Really just need some advice/feedback. Appreciate any help.PXL_20220212_185320162.jpgPXL_20220212_185258357.jpgPXL_20220212_185352381.jpgPXL_20220212_191224435.jpgPXL_20220212_191214875.jpg

Looks like an old Southbend turret tail stock with a homemade raiser block. Machine looks pretty rough, I wouldn’t go much over scrap price.

If you like restoring old machinery it could be a great deal. I recently picked up a 42 that was in slightly better cosmetic shape for scrap money as it also did not run. I'm completely disassembling and restoring it. Does the seller have a price in mind or are they wanting you to offer up a price?

The 6 jaw looks nice at first, it does look like it was apart, that would kinda concern me. You have to wonder if the scroll maybe messed up.

More pics of the lathe. Has taper attachment. I think that might be the collet closer too.PXL_20220303_185231708.MP.jpgPXL_20220303_185150961.jpgPXL_20220303_185609705.jpgPXL_20220303_185529037.jpgPXL_20220303_185401075.jpg

Lot of money in the tooling and the exciter probably just needs a jolt to get it excited. I'd say anything less than $2k is a fair deal. If they took $1k you're in you suck territory.

If the bed is not worn, it is worth something
When I was looking for my forst real lathe, I would walk up and without looking put my left hand on the front v way

Most you could hide pencil in, thanks but no thanks

No noticable ridge. I suspect the wear will be in the saddle. I plan on removing the flat way wiper on the saddle that the tailstock sits on and measuring the gap to gauge this.

Looks like they might accept $1000 for the lathe and most of the tooling.

JUMP ON IT!

The taper attachment has the vernier feater.
With all that tooling, the last person that had it, USED it... and that's why it is dirty.

I'm confident that it is a keeper. Even if it was unusable for some structural reason, the accessories and tooling are worthy of your investment, so you cannot lose.
