10EE square-dial apron oil system

Yes, that hole is part of the lubrication for the half-nut. There is a matching hole in the upper half-nut that is bored through to the threaded part of the upper half-nut. But the oil comes from the reservoir at the top of the apron, via gravity, not by a tap into the pressurized part of the oil system. It's the same setup as the round-dial apron. The Bijur system need a pressure of about 15 PSI to operate. A hole that size would be squirting oil at 15 PSI and the rest of the system would have trouble maintaining pressure. Note also that when the half-nut is open, the port is blocked, to keep from wasting oil through that branch. Pretty clever design.
