Hello this is my first post and thank you all for helping me. The company I work for recently purchased a 2006 HAAS VF-3B VERTICAL MACHINING CENTER, XYZ TRAVELS: 40" X 26" X 25", 54" X 25" TABLE, 40 . I've attached a picture of the specs. The machine input voltage is 208 3 phase. We plan on using a Transformer from 480 3 phase down to 208 3 phase, it says the full load is 40 amps. Looking at transformer a 15kv 480 3 phase stepped down to 208 3 phase will supply 42 amps. Is this enough power to consistently use this machine? Would you all recommend using a bigger transformer. Would love some input/feedback. Thank you for help.

Sounds right. I've run other real small 5-10HP CNC's off a 15KVA transformer so a Haas should be fine.

Nameplate ratings are usually on the high side. If you look inside a Haas, you can see what size wire comes off the main breaker. Look up that AWG wire on an ampacity chart and that'll paint a clear picture of exactly how many pixies a Haas needs to make it's Haaspower.

This PDF is from 2010 so it should be reasonably accurate for your machine as well.
