Somewhere in the earlier posts is one where Cash shows how he scraped and measured ways on a very large machine similar to that. If I recall correctly, he had a short section or boat that matched the V, and used a taught wire to check for deviation.

Can you add a picture of the mating part of the V-way, where the ways are visible
Here it is.
Two flat ways with about 3 meters apart and one V in the middle.

You could use a water level to check for deviation in the vertical plane but you would need two ” boats “. Obviously that only lines you up in one plane, the taught wire would do both planes but it’s a difficult skill to acquire.

I’ve worked on all sorts of Hor Bores but that style of way is a new one on me. Overly complicated if I can say so. You probably need to leave the outer ways slightly higher to compensate for the added weight of table and workpiece when it’s all back together again.
