575v 1/2hp to 380v? (wye to Delta)

I have a couple HD side mount garage door openers that I picked up for very little and was looking at getting them working. Came from big dealership where they lifted large heavy doors many times/hr.

My application is 10" wide by 12" high 1 3/4" insulated doors in small shop.

Controller lists everything from single phase input, to 3 phase 208 up to 575V (and everything in between)

Problem is the mtrs they came with are 575v, while my service is 110/220 single phase.

I have multiple VFDs to run these, but they are all 220 to 380?(I thought 360?)

So was thinking since these are overkill for the application I will be using them on, Could I rewire them Delta and get away with 380v 3 phase? (guessing they are wired wye now but not as easy to tell because no terminal block)

All help and suggestions appreciated!!!

How can you tell it's been a while since I've done anything like this lol

So for some reason I was thinking 220 single phase into VFD = 360 when looking at all my current working VFD mtrs, they are all 230/460 and one 208-230/460.

So I think I've answered my own question here.

There is no way to run the 575v motors, Delta config or not. Looks like my only option would be to get a cpl 1/2hp 208-230 3 phase motors and swap out the 575v's.

Now the manual for the openers states 3 phase input or single phase. When I look up replacement parts, they only have 1 part # listed for controller circuit board.

Is that possible? Same board whether your running single phase Or 3 phase?

Cuz if that were the case, and all I have to do is swap in 2 single phase 1/2hp motors, I would do that instead of running the VFD's
 
To be able to switch from wye to delta you need 6 leads coming out of the motor. Motor looks like single voltage.

Thanks for the reply! I finally heard back from service, but not much help. Unit is older and all the guy could figure was he thought that they changed motors only, but possible added a cap?

So final plan;

Have 575v mtr's rewired for 230v, or swap in 230v 3 phase mtrs. Then run off of 1hp (or 2hp) 230v VFD. Single phase in/ 3 phase out.

Does anyone see any issues with this, and should everything else that was running the 575v mtr's be compatible at 230v?

You will need to run the control boards for those machines off of regular single phase mains.

Then use the output to control the vfd somehow.

Regarding the motors, it is likely not worth your time to rewire the motor to 380 volts delta. It is almost certainly possible, as it is very unlikely the motor is already delta. if you have never done this before it will probably take you more than an hour to open the motor, cut the lacing, find the buried connection with 3 wires.. cut it, splice 3 wires on it, bring them out, then put the motor back together.

then program the vfd for 380 volts 60hz, but set the vfd to deliver 240v 38hz (since its not possible for the vfd to deliver more volts than your mains input). much more than 38hz that and the motor will not deliver full rated torque. (which you may not need). motor torque drops off with the square of the voltage ratio.

This got me thinking, since the controller uses single phase only, chances are, only the motor uses 3 phase.

So I took a look at the schematics and it looks like all I have to do is wire in a single phase 230v motor and everything should work fine, with no VFD needed!

After looking up the parts list, the only variable component that needs to be changed is the transformer. Currently 575v, it only lists 115v and 460v as replacements.

I'm assuming the 115v dbls as 230v single phase? and the 460v dbls as 230v 3 phase?

Anyway, after adding up what this is all going to cost, really looking like 230v VFD to convert to 3 phase, then 575v step up transformer is the way to go.

May start a new thread as the topic has slightly changed and those in the know may not see this.
