Was this article published before advanced process pulse was introduced?

I was wondering myself.

These days you can get all sorts of wave, balance, and frequency controls on really cheap welding machines, when it was really not so available in the past.

Wondering if these guys that wrote the paper were just too far ahead of the tech of the day to really make a difference.

From my brief time in school I remember that the school libraries have access to databases of scientific papers that don't show up on normal google searches. Also librarians generally go to school to learn how to research stuff, they are often an underutilized resource.

Magnetic field........ Oh you bet! A 220,000 pound water cooled magnet, >2T field in the gap It would take wrenches out of your hands at several meters. Analog watches get their escapment movements melted down if you're careless enough to wander into proximity.

It's pretty easy to test, isn't it? There aren't that many parameters to tweak if you adjust them methodically.

I would like to see the article mentioned by the OP as well. No flames or barbs from me.

I would think that a limiting factor when using AC on steel on a transformer TIG machine such as my Miller Synchrowave 200 would be the limited frequency. Modern inverter machines have some very high variable frequencies available and would, I think, do much better with AC on steel.
