I want to advertise for a couple products/ services I haven't done. (I'm a welding/fab shop).

One of them would be more upscale outdoor metalwork...think corten planter boxes and edging, garden screens, pergolas, etc.

This work doesn't jive with my current site (Old, product based) and "they" say having 2 websites with the same contact info is bad for SEO, otherwise I could have several websites.

So, does this leave targeted Facebook ads? Direct Mail?

Go ahead with 2 or 3 sites? I could do separate email addresses easily.

I did direct mail a long time ago for general business and it 'worked'...I got a few customers...but nothing great. Now 99% of my mail goes straight to the trash.

I do not know anything about "marketing", so I will be interested in seeing where this goes... I wonder who "they" are, and since it is related to what you "do", why they think it won't work to add it to your existing web site.

For contact info, if you need a phone, use an 800 number forwarding service. Very cheap and works well.

Just get new contact info. Register a new domain for $20/year, a basic company Gmail account @yourdomain for $6/month, and a Google Voice number for free that forwards to your cell phone.

Find someone with a nice house who needs some of this work done and see if you can do it at a substantial discount or free. Use this project to get a bunch of photos/videos. Drone shots might be cool.

Start with social media. Instagram/Facebook for starters. You can turn your posts into ads, and target the ads toward your local audience.

Direct Mail? No, no, and no.

Forget about getting business from a search engine unless you are willing to throw big bucks at Google ads or constantly paying an SEO company. If you are not on the first couple of pages no one will find you. You need other advertising with your website addresses shown to get people to find your site. Just make a second website and advertise its address by other means.

The Corten planter boxes are a no no. If Corten stays wet it rusts in high gear. Fort Worth Water gardens had Corten light poles in contact with the soil. One rusted through and fell , killing a couple of tourists.

Some apply mastic to the backside. I normally make them out of regular steel 3/16 thick. People don't really want to pay for corten...and the commerically available ones are bolt together 16ga junk even if it is corten.

No light poles for me :)
