Last year I bought an Acu-Rite M203 series DRO through MSC. (I'd have much preferred another 200S like I've been using for over 10 years without a blink, but like all good things the 'new, improved' version is all that's available). This fancy 203 display went blank-screen about a month ago, still a year+ left on the warranty. (Not a backlight issue, there is no ghosting of display info at all. Power light is on, nobody's home.)
The tech rep asked a few questions, told me there was nothing I could do on-site. He also said Heidenhain would not accept the unit for warranty work unless I created an account with them (a difficult thing for a one-man show because their process is cumbersome), and suggested I go through MSC. I called them, they only accept returns for 30 days but the lady called Heidenhain while I held on the phone and eventually came back with an address to which I supposedly can send the unit without pre-authorization. She said she'd never had such difficulty with a vendor before!
Anyone had dealings of this sort with this company? Details? I like their stuff and I fully expected 'courteous and helpful' from them and was sorely disappointed on both. They also start the warranty on the date of manufacture, NOT the purchase date. Seems chicken to me.
MSC, on the other hand, went above and beyond as they always do, to help me out. If I could give 'Regina' a raise, I would!
