Hi guys

I have haas st20y with barfeeder and subspindle, a client asked me to quote this piece but I am doubting about my aproach.

It is a piece of 90mm diameter and it is 7mm long.

On both side it needs to be processesed

Also material? Is it stable, is it warpy, does it work harden, is it frangible?

“Is it nice, my preciousss? Is it juicy? Is it scrumptiously crunchable?”

Looks like a good job for pie jaws. Depending on material and flatness requirements it could be very easy or somewhat difficult.

Parts like this benefit from twin turret lathes so that you can work 2 tools at the same time.

So that your cut-off tool follows in X with the face grooving tool - to keep warp out.

thierry, please do not take the jokes above to heart and disappear. You will get actual legitimate suggestions and techniques (as you've already gotten a few), BUT you do need to add more information as people have asked for.

You started great with the machine, but material is more important (unless you had some hobby grade machine).

An additional thing that would help people give you suggestions would be the quantity of parts. You'll get different answers for 1pc vs 1000pcs.

Lastly, as I pointed out in my first reply, if you have an idea of what you want to do, tell us. If you're processing it badly, someone will tell you.
