Hello well I a year ago ended up with a Swedish made bench top mount or table mount gear head drill press that needed all bearings replaced so tore it down and immediately got side tracked so it remains bagged and tagged under a pallet rack in my shop and thinking I could possible get a stand up machine and avoid having to finish the project of the Swedish one right away bought at auction for about 900$ a baileigh gear head drill press 1500g model that looked in good condition but upon picking it up the auction lets me know one of the gear levers is stuck and or doesn’t work and even tho during the auction they described it as a great working drill press won’t see anything from my
Point of view and I use the auction site enough I don’t want to have a no pay and go through that legal drama so. Was wondering if any one thinks it would be worth putting thr Swedish one back together or the newest project . And for future reference what would people consider some of the best gear or variable drill press to own

Can the Swedish head go on the china baseThe seller will probably claim you broke it when hauling or unloading it. Worked fine FOB.

Here's a link to the owner's manual for the 1500G on the Baileigh Industrial website:

The parts diagrams start on page 25. Maybe the problem is something relatively simple that could be resolved without tearing it completely apart. The only Baileigh machine I have is a cold saw. It's a relatively tough piece of iron and not all that difficult to repair. Hopefully your drill press will be the same.
