Best thread sealant for screw threads

I have the saddle off my lathe for cleaning and inspection. The ways look good but the oiling system not so good. I just bought it and looks like it's been sitting a long time, and probably never before cleaned.

There are screw thread plugs in the oil passages. They are coarse pitch, like 2mm, so there is a lot of room for leakage. It is a hand pump system. The three check valves in the pump have a curious shallow square thread on the od for pressure relief, so the pressure won't be very high. Nonetheless, even with vactra 2 there will be some seepage. Maybe more than some.

Any ideas on thread sealant? Pipe dope won't cut it. I don't think silicone will make the plugs difficult to remove, but it might.

I'm leaning toward the brown permetex stuff that doesn't set up hard. It may be thick enough to stay put.

Of course I searched after I posted. PERMETEX #2 is mentioned in this post that is what I will use.

Unless somebody else has a fantastic idea.
