Blanchard / Surface grinder operator Bridgeport, CT.

You might describe the work. Simple work is topping parts to close sizes, and grinding parts held in fixtures. More talented work is grinding steel and carbide multiple parts and parts tipped up on wires and parts angle parallels and experience grinding a chuck.. More talented also includes tramming the wheel head. Highly talented can also include running most other machines. IMHO.
Wages might be $12- 20, 25-30, 35-50.
Blanchard work is not difficult but one has to have eyes and ears on the job 100%, just talking to someone or answer a phone can cause an expensive wreck
Back in my day being near green one started out at $1.25 when auto workers were making about $3.00 because you were learning a trade.
