Was a very expensive tool, I had one to poke into the vacuum chambers of spectrometers through an access plug, it got broke a replacement was 30k!

No, it was the borescope. New ones are expensive, especially from someone like Leica. Good luck finding a new university grade spectrometer for $30k. And Mark, you are not alone in your fight against auto *in*correct!

Yes the OES spectrometers were half million, and I had 12 to calibrate and service, half a million is chicken feed to a big company, just a 6mm green band tungsten electrode was 1000 I got a kick up the arse for buying a box from sylvania tungsten for £11 each, the spectrometer supplier got wind and withdrew service and logged on to the spectrometers, disabled them for not using approved consumables on the instrument, I said we’d bought them but they said “ you don’t own the software it’s ours!
Industry indeed, highway robbery by multinationals ( panalytical)
