Hey all, Recently joined to see if anyone could give some info.

So i work at a company that does centreless grinding, we have a cincinnati grinder, we have recently been getting a problem with it dressing the grinding wheel.

So we normally do 2 notches each way when we dress it, but the last day or so it appears to be jumping when it dresses which leaves steps on the wheel where it hasn't gone over it properly, and we are running out of ideas on what to do.

Unsure which model it is, it's quite old.

any feedback would be appreciated

Hey, thanks for the reply we have tried that already, also slowed the traverse feed down, played with the gibbs, new diamond, its near enough a new wheel too, it's been fine since yesterday when we started getting the problem and nothing was changed.

check hydraulic fluid level, low fluid will make them jump. This is usually always the culprit

also check the guide that the dressing assembly slides along as well as the dovetails and anything that can gum up or wear out in it's travel.

Hey, thanks for the reply, we have always kept an eye on the level and it's always topped up, but we did bleed it to get air out and it had a little inside, how long do you think it should be bled for?

As for the slides, they are in pretty good condition but worn, we have stoned them and cleaned them to make sure they are smooth, still jumping when dressing though.
