Hello Folks,
Would it be possible for someone who has one of these Grinders to Sketch up/measure their wheel flanges for me please?
The ones I currently have are home made thick aluminium "washers" for want of a better phrase, without recesses etc.
I'm nearing completion of my Mk1 tidy-up :)

Any assistance gratefully received, thanks.
Alec.

Rangie, if you don't mind waiting till tomorrow I'll sort something out for you. They really are nothing special but I'll get the dimensions for you.

The standard flanges are 3/16" thick material with an overall OD of 1.5". The bore is just over 1/2" at 0.510". The centre recess is 0.020" deep for a diameter of 0.9550".
In addition to these it's worth making up a set of various bushes and spacers to mount various types of wheels eg. angle grinder cut-off wheels are quite handy for gashing small cutters and of course cutting off. Hope this is of help.

Here is a sectional drawing showing the profiles of the wheel flanges I copied when I made a set for my Clarkson. Dunno if they actually were factory or not but they look right.

I also have flange drawings allowing the use of an inexpensive white cup wheel from Axminster, an improved motor mount that makes adjusting belt tension much easier and a better wheel guard / dust extractor essentially the same as the MK 3 factory one. The guard needs decent MiG welding skills.

@Renardiere @Clive603 Thanks very much, great starting points.
I had considered a combination of recessed flange with center bush to run different bore wheels and also the likes of Cubitron cut-off disks to touch up annular cutters.
But for general work I think i'll stick with separate flanges and buses in case it all gets too complicated

Rangie, you're very welcome. The Clarkson grinder is a great tool, I can't believe how much use it gets here sometimes. Looks like you have a very interesting collection of machine tools up there in the North, were they all sourced locally? Surely not. I'm puzzling over the badge on your Avatar, I feel I've seen it before but can't place it.

I have a couple myself and due to the wheels I use, all of my flanges are custom to the wheels I have. Just take the shaft and match it to the spacer/flange you need. I'm sorry I couldn't be to much help. I'm mostly running diamond wheels to grind carbide.
