Clausing model 4900 10-24 lathe

I do have a manual on this newly acquired lathe. I have the following questions.

The lathe came with a live center in the tail stock, and the manual says it’s supposed to be a #2 Morse taper. The question is how is the live center and taper properly removed so I could insert a drill chuck?

I have several (4”,4.5”,6”,8”) 3&4 jaw chucks from a Logan 9B that I may want to use. The Clausing spindle is 1-3/4” x 8 TPI. The question is where or who carry’s a supply of backing plates (preferably finished)?

The upside to this piece of equipment is outside of needing cleaning it is in very good condition and also included a tool grinder and Palmgren 250 milling attachment.

Any pointers and hints are welcomed.

The Logan 9B will be listed for sale in near future.

Keep turning the handle on the tailstock until it self ejects.

If the shank of the live center is too short to self-eject in the normal way, place a piece of metal or wood between the center's bearing housing and the tailstock casting and crank the tailstock ram back.

Thank you. I thought it was similar to the Logan but it does get tight when I try. I will cut a wood wedge and try that.
