Connection to Stratasys printer

Hello, after a while I want to print something with my Stratasys BST 768 printer but the software says, there is no connection to the printer. I am using windows 7 and windows xp with catalyst.
Do I have to use a ethernet switch or do I connect the printer only with a normal ethernet cable?

Hi produktdesigner:
If your machine is anything like my UPrint Plus, the problem is that the IP addresses don't match.
You need to get into the setup screen, and either reconfigure it for dynamic IP or you need to find the static IP address the computer wants to communicate with and re-input that new IP address into the printer.
I tried manfully to get my printer to communicate directly and I was never able to do it successfully...you need the correct communication cable ( I can't remember which one it was) and it will fight you every step of the way.
These things seem to want to communicate via the internet.

Cheers
