That guys whole spiel is that the rest of the world is completely helpless without the USN. Did he really just say that China is relying on the USN to keep supplies coming into China and China will implode now that the USN didn't stop this tanker drama?
If you want to know how full of shit this guy zihain is go back and look at what he was talking about 5-10 yrs ago and where he said things would go. He has been wrong on everything in the past that I have seen.

You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. Have you seen the Chinese Navy patrolling the Strait of Hormuz?

Ya, know.....Would it not be in South Korea's interest to further weaken Russia and diminish its influence in the region? A weaker Russia is also in Chin'a interest. Perversely, if a weaker Russia becomes a vessel state for China simultaneously, it can no longer supply arms to her. Wonder when the Russian weapon designers start showing up en-mass in these Chinese companies.

A weaker Russia could benefit South Korea and China by diminishing its influence in the region. However, it is also important to note that the relationship between Russia and China is complex and has been described as a "strategic partnership" in recent years.

Considering the potential risks and consequences of any actions that could weaken Russia or escalate tensions between Russia and other countries. In particular, the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has already led to significant tensions between Russia and many Western countries, including the United States. Any actions taken by South Korea or other countries perceived as hostile towards Russia could escalate tensions further and lead to unintended consequences.

In a nutshell, Korea has a lot of thinking to do :).
Interesting. I do not believe she’s could do much. I do think they. Might help the US with something yet North Korea takes all of their time.

Departing from current production of 155mm artillery shells by member of PM....Although there is still great opportunity in that area.......
Regarding the Straits of Hormuz...was under the impression that China has rather large presence in that geographic area with Billions in whatever is the current form of monetary investment (yuan?) in the region.

They are not patrolling the Straits of Hormuz, so if Iran blockades it, who will stop them? Someone will have to convince the US to stop them:). And what is in it for the US? We get precious little from there now. And yes, it is a departure, but if things get bad, it will need 155mm shells,

you obviously never saw the action film Wolf Warrior 2, in which the Chinese equivalent of stephen seagall kills several thousand terrorists with a spoon protecting innocent chinese construction workers. It was the highest grossing film ever in China, making a half billion faster than any other film in Chinese history. Who needs a navy when you have Leng Feng?

During the Vietnam years, dad had three Pratt and Whitney PJ 400 NC Turret lathes and one PJ 200. He made many thousands of artillery rounds during those years on those machines. Big money from the rounds and the scrap as well, back then.

With the new trend of US banks collapsing, I wonder who's gonna foot the bill for these shells?

They only want the largest of the banks to exist. It's planned implosion. Can't wait for the 100% monitored and centrally controlled social credit linked CBDC to be rolled out.

Or...

You could vote out the lawmakers who let banks set their own rules, and do things like eliminate the Glass-Steagall Act and other constraints that prevent banks from making reckless gambles.

No conspiracies required when it's just plain-'ol greed and stupidity...

banks dont "pay" for anything. they make money moving money.
Illegal immigrants pay for the shells- last year they paid an estimated 13.5 billion in taxes, using fake SS numbers, so thats money the government can spend on shells right there. Banks, obviously, dont pay any taxes.

Hey Free. They will raise it again or pay the consequences. Amazing that they even bother with it instead of playing political chicken. It is ridiculous. Right now doomsday is being mentioned once again. It should be mentioned too.

Both sides have raised it when they had the whole Congress majority. They enjoy the gut wrenching showdown. It is their life while everyone else has things to be concerned about too.

I think many pushing this showdown plan to retire before long and might want to go through with it. It is a possibility.

Stephen, any expansion on the conversations and insights you got would be welcome! Having direct contact with those affected is something rare for us in the US

Thanks, Milland; but the only clear insight i have is an old one merely reinforced by this trip:
I wake up every day thankful for the intelligence, foresight, hard work, and self initiative that caused me to have a lucky birth into a healthy life situation of the correct ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, with adequate means, stability & opportunity in world terms, rule of law, equal access to the law, no one dropping bombs and planting land mines, and only a few rare instances where anyone threatened me with or shot a gun in my direction.

Russians are not always easily appreciated in Georgia, though many are there. I frequently heard that while Georgians can speak Russian, some refuse to do so to make a point. The issue is Putin, and the fear that Georgia is next in line after Ukraine. Graffiti everywhere is that Ukraine = Georgia = Ukraine = Georgia = etc. Various versions of Fuck Putin/Fuck Ruzzia. Russia committed atrocities and genocide in Georgia from aprox 1921 through the second WW despite that fact that it was Stalin's birthplace. They used fake peace and pact agreements, much as with the early stages of the war with Ukraine before the 2014 annexations. They've been doing this forever with surrounding countries. Russians in Georgia seemed defensive.

Armenia has fonder memories of Soviet era. The Turkish genocide stopped. There was peace, stability, & infrastructure development. Turkey really did wipe out most o f the Armenians and especially the intelligentsia. Which had been tolerated because it was essential to Turkey's own development. (Capable, worldly, educated people, even if they were the wrong religion). On our trip, in Armenia, if someone looked like they might be Americans, they were probably Russian, and a good bet for translating local culture because they all learn English in school. Armenians apparently speak Russian about equally with Armenian.

Now Azerbaijan has decided to try to re-ignite the issue and vocally pledged to cleanse the earth of Armenians as they shell them. Armenia is fighting back. The "legalities" of the small area that is an excuse for the atrocities is contested. So of course bigger powers are now being invited/encouraged/pleaded with to intercede, and they jockey for their best position to balance their own interests against the other bigger powers. The people on the ground just keep trying to get on with life and often dying horribly. Or watching as their loved ones do.

Just to clarify - i have no more personal experience of the conflict area with Azerbaijan than anyone watching TV or googling.

We knew before arriving that April 24th was Remembrance Day.
OTOH, we were not fully prepared for the experience when we went out on a stroll for groceries and an electric cook pot, and ended up in Remembrance Park, swept along by miles of mourners & 3 trips back and forth through the memorial itself due to getting lost, poor understanding of crowd control devices, and then rain.

We (wife/me) superficially saw a fair amount of the country in the company of young Russians who adopted us for English practice, and an Armenian landlord who had a car. (Armenia is comparable in size to Maryland, the state i grew up in.) The presence of uniformed soldiers steadily increased over the week, but otherwise the parts of the country we saw were peaceful, economically active (seemed thriving) and preparing for the full scale tourist season that starts May 1. The soviet calendar still remains strong - no fountains on before May 1, nor any AC in most hotels with that same excuse, as though it were logic. :)

Yes, with a building full of basic 2-axis lathes, drills, and boring bars, our shop could make artillery rounds. We can have the steel round bars sent to us and then drill, thread, and heat treat the parts before painting them.

Glad to finally see a post about reality rather than speculation. As I said in an earlier post many shops worldwide could produce such rounds if needed, without resorting to forging.
