Good day. Looking for recommendations for type of steel to make hose ferrule crimp dies. these will be for larger (4"-ish) hose.

To give an accurate recommendation, there would need to be some more info.

Material being formed.
Quantities expected to produce.
What type of press.

Material is probably just 1018, or 1026 maybe 1/4" thick hose ferrules. Press is a commercial hose crimping machine for industrial hoses. 3-4" hoses.

If you are planning on making to size and not grinding after H.T., D2 would probably be the sure bet.
