DMTG 1440 Lathe Taper Attachment Operation

Hello, We bought a used DMTG 1440 Lathe recently and have what appears to be a factory taper attachment. It operates perfectly in manual mode.(when you crank the carriage by hand.) when you engage the power feed the taper attachment no longer works and the carriage and cross slide operate as they would if the attachment was disconnected. Any DMTG users out there that have suggestions? Thanks for you input.

WE have bigger DMTG @ work .It's been awhile since I used the taper attachment. I won't be @ work till Monday now but I can't think of any reason it's not working with the power feed.
