I have empathy for those who claim they were forced to take the treatment against their will - but I do not respect them. Never trust people who will violate their own moral values, they are cowards. Covid is just a litmus test in this situation.

Vaccine mandate? That was not really a mandate, more like a smorgasbord...the "mandate" had 3 choices. 1.) Get vaccinated. 2.) get weekly tests 3.) leave the job

All that in the name of public safety. So if you consider yourself a conscientious objector you could always take door #3. If you could not nor would but still needed the job, door #2 was a compromise offered. Of course, the goal was always to get everybody vaccinated, again in the interest of public safety. And that was a milder version than the one enforced by Faux News.

Interesting to have moral values that endanger the rest of society, but that goes back to loving thy neighbor. There are new prophets in town

which cardiologist claims that? The data from the clinical trials are public.

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2035389

It's just ink on paper..... kinda like a chinese QC report. At least that's the argument.... That it is an elaborate fake, designed to get that chip into everyone.... who will then become a mindless complaint sheep shedding covid everywhere....

BTW, if you look at the needle, no chip is gonna fit in that..... but that don't matter.

You may not realize it but you are not in a place to speak critically about a lot of topics. Your comments do not pass the smell test. That is fine, most of us would say Communism and Socialism are fine too if we wanted to be safe, and not dissapear and rock the boat while desiring to remain in China. You do you, but you are not in a position to preach or critique others.
Look, this is silly. You know NOTHING about China. You've never been there. You've never even done tourist stuff. You can't speak or read a word of Chinese. Everything you think you know comes from the Times or the Washpo or Reader's Digest. You are doing the same thing as some kid who watched five youtube videos then walks into a shop and tells guys how to run a 5 axis Makino. It's silly, and retarded. And wrong wrong wrong.

I am in a position to criticize because unlike you, I've lived in both countries. Your smell test is off in lalaland because all you've ever smelt is US propaganda (and maybe some of termite's farts). You've never been anywhere near the reality. When was the last time you were in ANY Chinese city ?

FWIW I have a lot of respect for the country and it's people.
Is that why you squeal about "communism !" all the time ? Hint : China is a communist country. The 1.4 billion people who live there know that. They SUPPORT the government. They are HAPPY with the communist government. The reason Jiang lost the war and got kicked out of the country is because the people supported the communists. Jiang had all the support, money and weapons from the US but he still lost. Why ?

Chinese people are communists (if they have to be anything. Mostly they leave the job of government to the government, while they go do their own thing. Eat, drink, work and snuggle. Sign the kid's homework. Yup. Parents have to sign the homework.)

You can't say two opposites and have them both be true.

You don't act like them.
That's because I am not. I'm a roundeye, a foreigner, a wai guo ren.

But I don't think you actually know any Chinese people if you think they are subserviant little "know their place" serfs for you to lord over. Either that or you are too naive to understand that the culture is to smile while placing five pounds of dynamite under your seat, then smile while you turn the key and even smile at your funeral. Maybe even burn 50 yuan in funeral money at your grave.

Animals and wagons were for the rich. They aren't worth a damn in a forest, either.

John Hacker man-packed the first grindstones from Winchester, Virginia to near present day Jane Lew on foot to become the first "permanent" European settler West of the Alleghenies. He had already claimed the land and set out his first crop, a season earlier.

We thrived.

His Great Grandfather never had orders from Cromwell to arrest the King. Figured it was time. Told whining-preaching Ollie AFTER the fact.

Ultimately paid the price he had expected. No whimpering to it.
Got what he expected, too.

No English Monarch has dared war on his own Parliament since.
Nor will they.
Ever again.

Sic Semper Tyrannis

First since in his direct line to take the Oath to HM.
Pleased to have once exchanged a one on one salute with that hard-driving Destroyerman she married.

Present Company are right good folks.

The future?

It was meant to be altered by humans.

Not just the other way 'round.

You had some OTHER plan?

“ Animals and wagons were for the rich. They aren't worth a damn in a forest, either.”

This kind of outlook is real. I get a kick out of this because here in the South history of my ancestors was poor folk mostly. This kind of comment goes over the heads of most persons but I do get it.

I have thought in the past that my dogs were spoiled needlessly by having anything like a dog toy. Now that was a ridiculous thought position. They are much more enjoyable to have around if cared for and loved. Toys are great and they give so much to life.

We learn as we mature what the world is like and we are better off for it. That we often find ourselves disagreeing on this or that is not earth shaking or at least should never be so opposed as to bring a standoff of inaction and mutual progress.

We think things often screech to a halt much to our detriment. They should not persist really. No one can save the world it does just fine despite any of us. Sure making it better and caring for this Earth is important yet we all want to follow a path that will be successful. Even with this covid stuff.

I have noted that people are indeed concerned about the new variant and in many places people show a high level of worry. That is understandable during these times. It will be good when this finally passes. Then EG can get back to China and go all “we are chi a knees if you please and We are chi a knees if you don’t please” on everyone. Like the singing cats in the movie. :)

On Tour...
The good doctor has written a book "Sickening" Which I actually plan to get when it comes out next month. The US healthcare has many ills and it would be interesting to see another perspective.

I figured out what bothers me about the clip. I am not certain what this clip has to do with the vaccine. Ok, it implies that since Pfizer is only in it for the money. it is all bad. Almost like saying, flying is a bad thing because the airlines and the plane makers are in it for profit. We should just assume that they have evil intentions of feeding us bad food and cramming us into small seats.

But Big Scary Pharma is providing a service we demand. Ok, they extract too much from our hide for it but we want it so they provide it. Is it not capitalism at its best, whatever the market can bear? So just because Pfizer played dirty and got caught once will make their entire product line useless?

On the other hand, a large number of this crowd wants to eliminate all regulations, and then scream bloody murder when a private enterprise takes advantage of the public. Which one is it? Make drug companies accountable or let them do whatever they want? I think Dr. Abramson is raising a very interesting angle on the role of Big Pharma. I am sure he has not too many admirers at Pfizer :). But, can someone enlighten me on why is this clip even relevant to the vaccine efficacy discussion? After all one of these goons makes Ivermectin and Hyroxycloroquin and everything we take.

Because I initially posted it specifically in reply to what TRB wrote - something about all the tech data being available etc - so I thought the clip was very relevant because of how the data (in some instances) is presented - specifically the peer review.
Which is a total eye opener to me, because not being in the medi game, I never knew how drugs were bought (no pun intended) to market (the whole testing and approval "thing") and assumed peer review was a lot more independent/panel of experts etc etc.
Hence my analogy with Boeing (737 MAX)- where to my naivety, the regulatory body, do not seem technical/involved enough.
I read this last night too

Because they have to support the government, or else.
Stop trying to make communism pretty, it ain't.
Your country just celebrated Mao. The most prolific mass murderer in world history and you want to make it seem like it's no big deal.

You have point there, I guess. Imagine 750 million dickheads arguing constantly with 650 million assholes, You would have an epic social media platform. But your thinking makes any dictatorship OK because the majority supports them, based on that Putin is an OK guy, and Orban is a saint, and Trump gets a pass.

Lemme try to understand this...

No regulation is good, but more regulation is better? But only just before a major fuckup? How does that work?

Note: the words "laboratory" or "accreditation" is suspiciously absent from the article cited :).

ISO - ISO/IEC 17025 — Testing and calibration laboratories

Pay attention to this article

Malone went on Joe Rogan and he described exactly how cult members behave, the scary fact is that his description can be used to describe both extremes of the argument. Will rational thinking ever return to the majority of this place?

I believe Dr. Malone, in the Rogan interview was drawing parallels between current American society and Germany in the 1920s and 1930s as the Nzzis came into power and how the supposedly educated/intelligent population of Germany ended up being led into the madness thier leader took them.

So I started plowing through the numbers as they are coming in now for the Omicron variant.

This new strain appears to be far more contagious and is spreading effectively in both vaccinated, the unvaccinated and those who have an still effective immune response from a recent infection.

The particular enhancement appears to be effectively skirting immune responses regardless of mechanism be it vaccinations or infection based.

The vaccinated still enjoy more robust and longer lasting protections from infection.
The vaccinated still enjoy much better outcomes from infection should it occur in a much reduced number of poor outcomes- hospitalization and complications.

I guess the take home here is the immune response does not last so it appears we are headed for endemic disease with yearly vaccinations.

The above is just what I remember from a few papers I reviewed.

My sense is the R0 jumped much higher with this one and the science is still being worked out on the cellular mechanisms.

"The vaccinated still enjoy more robust and longer lasting protections from infection."
I'll take the other side of that one.

"I guess the take home here is the immune response does not last"
And that, at least as far infection arrived immunity is concerned.

"it appears we are headed for endemic disease with yearly vaccinations"
Am with you there tho, unfortunately, except id bet a number of boosters while the demand is strong.

According to a report by Joe Rogan, Dr. Pierre Kory from the Front Line Critical Care Covid group treated himself and hundreds of members of Congress with monoclonal antibodies, prednisone, z-pak, NAD, vitamins, and ivermectin.
But none of that treatment for any of you! It doesn't work for peasants!

My family and I enjoyed watching the Twilight Zone marathon New years eve and day on the Sci-fi channel

Imagine if you will a company releasing a medical product that didn't do what they promised it would.

Then had the media blame the malfunction on those whom refused to take it.

While telling those that did, they must keep taking more of it every few months.

New York! Reports today say New York is the epicenter of the current outbreak with number of infections greater than 2021. New York with it's high vaccination rates and tough mask/social distancing regulations and a complete cluster fuck.

Not only that, have the definition of vaccination literally changed in Webster's dictionary to suit the agenda.
It used to mean immunized.
