Gentleman,

As most of you know by now I'm very much a novice when it comes to wiring.

I have Baldor 1/2 hp motor that I'm wanting to be able to operate CW and
CCW. I've got the drum switch.
This motor has a manual thermal overload switch located on outside of the case.

This motor has no "P" wires, on the J wire that is connected to the overload.

Can someone help me figure out the wiring using the drum switch?

Hopefully the my sketch is of some help.

Tom

Where's the drum switch??
They come in many configurations and which style you have matters.
Are you sure what you have on the sketch matches physically what you have?

The drum switch is made by Relay& Control Corp.
Model RS-1A-SH

The second picture is hard to read, it says:
"Interchange # and & leads to reverse rotation"

I would guess that # and & are but that would be risky, can you get a clearer picture or type it up for us.

I think you can :
Connect # to terminals 3 of the drum switch, what ever picture 2 shows connected to # to terminal 5 of the drum switch
Connect & to terminals 4 of the drum switch, what ever picture 2 shows connected to & to terminal 2 of the drum switch

There are multiple ways to do this.

Carl,

I agree, that diagram is difficult to read.

Maybe this picture is easier to view.
I called the manufacturer of the switch and asked her is she had a .pdf of the drawing we're discussing and she said no [emoji50] .
