Emory Cloth Polishing on Lathe: Correct Technique (to avoid injury)

Emery (corundite) hasn't been used as an abrasive in the United States for over a 100 years. Just saying

Check Norton Abrasives. NortonCatalog-ClothSheetsRolls.pdf

They still offer cloth backed abrasive in Emery, Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide.

Norton offers it in sheets not rolls.

According to their Cross Reference Table, 3M, Klingspor and SIA also have Emery products.

I think it is safe to say that anything over 600 grit is a buffing compound, not grinding.
